Great to see PING finally implementing the changeable shaft tech in their fitting clubs. Hopefully we'll see more of that at the grass roots level so we won't have to wait for the demo days to try new stuff, which is usually more difficult for the lefties unless we wait for the demo days.

 

Would definitely like to see what's coming out for the 50th anniversary, though gun to my head, I can wait a little bit. If they release what I think they'll release, it 1) won't last long, and 2) will cost some scratch that I don't have right now.

SWEET! Love the 50th Anniversary stuff! The V2s look so much better with the black/gold combo than the lime green. Might have to see what I can do to get me one of them! :good:

 

I heard that the 50th putters are versions of the Karsten series (Anser, Zing, and B60) but in manganese bronze to keep with the gold-colored theme, and I think they'll be available lefty too, but from the pictures it's hard to tell. Fingers are crossed here!

Those are very nice pictures indeed! What's with the G10 irons (with 50th anniversary badge) and Rapture V2 driver (with gold paintfill)? Will those be available at retail or is this just for the demo? The finish on the G10 anniversary-badged irons looks different, too.

Good catch, I thought the irons looked different, but glossed right over them. It looks like the G10s were done with the older-school tumbled finish instead of the now standard Guyson. Definitely gives these clubs a different look.

Interesting that Ping chose to return to the show. Things must really be bad as far as sales and they are looking for any prebooking increases they can get. Disappointing that the bulk of their 50th anniversary offerings are paint jobs/custom CTPs/headcovers/stickers. The only putter I saw was a stainless anser that had 50th anniversary sticker in the cavity. At least they could have done the putter in the original maganese bronze--would have been more in keeping with the original and would look a ton better. The sticker on the stainless Anser looks like something you would buy at the WalMart personalized label service. Since the fall is still 2009 we can hope for some real equipment for the anniversary.

I got a ton of 50th anniversary Pics. New G10 irons, the wood line, and the putters. Unbelievable finish on the irons. It is close to the original finish from back in the day. The new badged G10's have milled grooves where as the normal G10 irons dont.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. When I first scrolled down and saw the new pictures, I was pumped. By the time I finished scrolling I felt serious disappointment. The last time I felt this letdown from PING was when I pre-ordered a set of Zing irons, sight unseen. Anyway, I guess the positive is that all the clubs in the bag are safe until Fall '09( or longer.....). :boredom:

It is really a dirty trick to show that gold and black to a Purdue Boilermaker that really does not need to replace his G5 irons or Karsten putter.

I'm underwhelmed with the 50th Anniversary stuff. No Eye2 Re-Release? Just a different color scheme? Why would I buy that stuff and then see all of the new models come out in the Spring?

I own a V2 not for the looks obviously. I think there are many better looking drivers than the V2,Titliest 909, TM R9, etc) but I have not found one that performs better though.

Wow, major disappointment. I thought for sure Ping would be releasing some new irons for the 50th, and I thought it would be at the show.

 

Sometimes, I think Ping will do anything to avoid reference to their greatest hit ever, the Eye2 iron.
