quick ? before i purchase this combo, with a ss of 110mph, should i get the S or X shaft
thanks
I have both and the stiff feels like a soft stiff, and seems to launch much higher than the X. The X has a higher kick point than the stiff. The x seems to play like an X but is very smooth like the diamanas. I can't tell you wich one to get, but if you have an aggressive swing you may consider the X, especially with the 110 SS.

i just ordered the ft-9 i-mix with fubuki 63x and found out that the reason why cally was selling it so cheap, it's made in china. MOTHER FATHER! If it's too good to be true then it's not, i had a weird feeling when i was ordering the shaft, i was thinking just buy the .335 and shim it. i know i'm not going to hit well knowing the fact that it was made in china, crap!!!

Response: Well, if the Fubuki is cheap Chinese crap because it was assembled in China, then sign me up to buy some more Chinese crap.

Relax, it is only assembled in China as are all I-Mix shafts and nearly any other club I might want, regardless of manufacturer. The Fubuki Tour 63 I-Mix is just priced (when bought with an I-Mix head) to match the stock glued version. Great deal and I really like mine.

I only look at labels for amusement anymore, although I did find some wood tees made in the USA.

This may have been asked already. Can the I-mix adapter be removed to install this shaft in a non I-mix head (I have a 9* Rapture head)? Im just a little concern how soft they play with the 3.7 torque. My current shaft is a Aldila Proto by you 65-stiff (3.0 torque). I know what there is no standard with flexes and such. Thanks.

well, i don't trust it, since cally is not willing to reveal the spec of the "assembled in china fubuki" version, and the kick point is little bit different than .335 shaft. i have the .335 version and will test it out tomorrow. yes, i've been trying to not to buy stuff from china even things that are assembled.

Nearly every OEM stock club is assembled in China or Mexico. If you want this Callaway i-mix shaft assembled in the U.S., just order it with a custom grip and it will be assembled in Carlsbad, CA. The .350 Fubuki profiled nearly identical to the .335 counterpart. You will not be able to distinguish a difference between the .350/.335.

yeah, i know, that's why i pulled the .350 shaft out and installed the .335 (made in japan) shaft in the i-mix sleeve. i have been using fubuki (tm head) about a year and know exactly how this shaft function and i'll tell you it's different when compared to .350, i know that .350 is tipped about 3/4, so is the .335 version (about 1/2). that's why i want to compare using .335, the tip being .350 alone will make the shaft perform little bit different. i just want the same shaft performance of tm head in a ft-9 tour head.
BIG difference in sound. FT-9 is very muted compared to the FT-5.
Totally agree, I just hit mine for the first time last night.

Muted sound over FT-5
Miss hits seem to be more forgiving on FT-9 over FT-5
I went from the 10.5 FT-5 with Fujikura 150 Stiff flex to the FT-9 9.5 tour i-mix w/ Fubuki 63 x-stiff.
I can now swing hard like I’m used to and get great results with out the high backspin numbers i was getting.
Piercing trajectory.

Trampoline effect feels outstanding, and at setup this lies perfectly on the ground
Gained about 8-10 yrds off tee.
SS is around 108-113mph and backspin rate is now below 2800rpms.
Carry of 280-290yrds
Total distance 310-320yrds.
And straight everytime, with the odd draw.
Don't like the head cover, but will have to do.
Grip is alright, will be changing it out to a half cord or something.
Shaft feels a bit light, but i knew that with going with the 63. Will use this shaft for rest of year, may look at another next season.

Overall, i give it a:
5/5 on Performance
5/5 on Look/Sound/Feel
4/5 on Grip
3/5 on Headcover
4/5 on shaft, only because i have to get used to the lighter shaft.

Now i'm off to the links to have some fun with my new toy.

I have the fubuki 63 xstiff and FT-9 tour 8.5 and played this past weekend in a tournament. Well on the 10th hole I hit one right in the screws and the driver made a crazy sound. Did not notice anything with the club but the ball went a mile and my group marveled at the carry. Anyway, next hole I hit driver and heard the driver just crumble in my hands after impact. Yep the weld between the plastic and the metal had caved in and the metal was now curved under the plastic. Also, the toe plastic had cracked and caved in as well. I hit the ball very hard, but have never caved a driver in like this. Took it to the pgatour superstore and they told me this is a very common problem with this club. They told me I have a 50/50 chance of callaway reheading it for me so I am back to my FT-3 for now. 400 bucks down the drain I guess. BTW if the shaft you put in the club is not the original shaft tracked my callaway(glued in), your warranty is now void.

well, i'm little bit particular when it comes to golf clubs and .335 vs .350 plays definitely different.
this is my first callaway driver since biggest big bertha, i have been playing TM, Ping, Titleist.
here is my 4 day result;
i really like the ft-9 tour, it's like a sniper rifle (muted sound), very accurate, long and forgiving.
the tour fubuki .335 plays little bit lighter with better kicks and turns over much better than .350.
they are both smooth shafts but i have better sense with .335 when the shaft is about to kick, i didn't have that with .350.
in terms of distance, i couldn't tell, playing condition wasn't ideal, we had gloomy weather for 4 days, rain on and off, cloudy, temp around 70's.
make the long story short, i'm sticking with tour fubuki (.335), better feel and performance.
one thing i don't understand is this, i bought the .350 version for $129 and been trying to buy just the i-mix sleeve and they were selling off on ebay for $69-89 bucks (used). benefit of the doubt, if callaway sells the sleeve for $50(which cally does not sell the sleeve) that means the shaft is $79. this does not make any sense, retail tour fubuki cost is $275 (without the sleeve)and they will lose money everytime they sell .350 versions if the .350 version is made with same material, manufacturing process and factory. and, why are they trying to conceal by putting a "63 x5ct" on .350 shafts, the OEM .350 blueboard, redboard and whiteboard are "g 35t" to identify the differences in the tip.
fishy, very fishy!!!

Try the FAQ M-R website where they explain what the x5ct stands for...not much really except the weight...and not the tip. And why some others have tip designations. They don't explain why in all cases, so maybe it is a little fishy. Mitsubishi Rayon fishy.

I don't possess your feel as I really could not tell enough of a difference between the I-Mix and glued at .350. Granted, I was only hitting into a net with an LM. I bought the I-mix version, so I could switch out to another shaft in windy conditions.

What? "...not the tip"? here is the mitsubishi's FAQ:
"OEM shafts are marked in a different way to help identify the differences in the tip section, in addition to help distinguish OEM from retail after-market shafts. As a result, the "x5ct" marking is replaced with a "g 35 t" (for shafts with a 0.350 tip OD) or "g 4" t" (for shafts with a 4 inch parallel tip section) for all OEM shafts."
my own personal test was done on both i-mix sleeve shafts, not the glued version.
well, callaway still insists that .350 version is the same shaft as the tour .335 version and i personally do not think so. that's all.

2nd range day session with driver today

Trajectory is much better controlled than my Nike SQ tour 9.5 and much flatter ball flight.

Still trying to figure out my swing but i should be able to get more comfortable with the swing soon and the club is helping out quite a bit with the confidence department

FYI- I ordered the Razr Fit driver yesterday directly from Callaway. There is no upcharge for the Fubuki Tour 63! The rep told me many premium shafts are now available for much lower prices than previously, and in some cases no upcharge at all. Thanks Callaway!!!!

ps- he also said special orders send you to the front of the line over stock orders when it comes to fulfillment

I checked on this with the company that I ordered mine through, and they told me the Fubuki was definately an upcharge. It's probably due to the club not being released yet, but it has been very hard to get the same answer from multiple sources as far as shafts go. I wish I could get pricing right from their site at the moment, but since I already ordered it's really too late anyway. I just don't want to find out I paid more than the going rate when it's all said and done.
