Did anyone just watch Golf Central?

Calloway is coming out with a Opti-Fit System that will alow you to change shafts just like the movable weights in the TaylorMade stuff.

They have 6 different shafts that the Pros can interchange buy slipping the shaft in and tightening it up with a wrench from the bottom that even looks kinda like the TaylorMade wrench. Now you will be able to change shafts like you can change your socks.........man where is it going next!!!

They said it will be available to the consumer later in the year........... :) :)

Nakashima has this, their HTEC. Problem is the USGA hasn't blessed the concept.

The company that did it before was Burrows Golf. Everyone is looking for a technology angle to try and topple the R7 movable weight brand.

I think this is most interesting from a Fit standpoint (eg: go to the shop, try the same head with a bunch of different shafts, find the one that works best for you). Cool. (and no, didn't see the show, I'm going off what is reported here).

Yeah! I watched this on Golf Central. I had to pry my jaw of the floor...

 

Too bad I just bought a new driver, I should have held out a little longer...

MAC Burrows tried this but it didn't take off. I'm sure the concept can be successful with a popular brand such as Callaway

and way before them Henry Griffits came out with it. This is what the reps and courses will have for demos. It was first shown at the PGA show

I'm under the impression this is more to better fit people to shafts that match their swing as opposed to an R7 change your weights when you feel like it system. As a lefty this is great news because there will be more demo shaft combos to hit. Callaway has always had great customer service and this is just continuing that trend.

I can't wait, it was suggested to me that the 905T, G5/2, or the Callaway FT-3 were good matches for my swing, the pro said I had a swing that favored bore-through drivers. I can get used to the wooden sound of the FT-3. Sign me up.

The OptiFit system is ONLY FOR FITTING. You go through the process, then buy/order a club with the shaft/head you want at the end of the fitting. You don't get a club with interchangeable shafts to take home. Just wanted to clarify.

 

Saw the system at the PGA Show. Very impressive. Yes, others have tried it. But, as someone else posted, Callaway will be able to make it work because of the demand for their drivers. Makes it easier to have a complete demo day without having to bring along a zillion clubs.

I just wonder how long it's going to take one of the big four to come out with the new holy grail...a swingweight adjustable head with a removable, playable shaft system, that will allow you to go to an outdoor fitting range and find exactly the right combination, then walk away with that head and shaft.

 

I give it maybe three more years. I'd like to see it ASAP.

 

My local clubmaker gave the Burrows system really high marks for fitting, but there isn't any reason with modern design and technology that a system can't be developed to swap shafts without a puller, heat gun and epoxy.
