Best mid-price ball???

Help!
Alright guys, I need some feedback on some golf balls. I'm looking for the best performing mid-priced ($20-$30) golf ball. I'm a decent golfer and I want to play tour caliber balls, but i don't want to spend $50+ on a dozen. I really enjoy a soft ball, but I know they are hard to find in this category. And the recent ones i've been interested in (like Nike Vapor), everyone seems to think they are for slow swing speeds. My swing speed is about 105mph, so I don't know if i would be doing myself an injustice by buying some of these balls. I've played everthing from the Wilson Zip to Taylor Made TP black!!!! Please help.. Also is anyone familair with golf ball selector.com?? If so how is it??

I'm going to +1 for the Burner TP as well. If you look at Golf Digests ball list, it's way up there with the premiums, but it the mid-range price.

Add in the fact, that I've seen them numerous times for $12-$20 per dozen for new, non-logo balls and it's a no brainer to me.

The other balls that you may want to try...... the Srixon urc/s if yo ucan still find them for the $20-$25 per dozen. And the Nike One Blacks for $30 dozen.

alwyas played callys. for the last year been the cally tour ix. however, last week i found a burner tp and played it. really liked. so yesterday bought a pack and played. first off it was amazing! spins, but not too much. and did not get cuffed like ym callys do. they were getting ripped up bad after each hole lately so this may be my new ball

You might look at the used ball market. Even when buying at the highest rated/valued balls, the price is really quite reduced versus new. The internet makes this a very viable alternative. Most players cannot see/feel the difference. Afterall many are played as little as a single hit. You can tell a ball has been played for a round or more. By going this route, those $50/doz balls drop into the $20/doz range. So you have your cake and eat it too.

As to specific balls, the Bridgestone e5+/e6+ and I would presume e7 are good balls. I like the e6 three piece ball.

The B330/B330S/B330RX are also very nice, though a bit pricier. Again better priced used.

I am looking at the Nike Platinum One as another choice.

I've had a great run last year with the Wilson Tx4. Got a bunch off eBay last year and they were real solid. Decent long, but with spin - not as much spin as a ProV, but that's a plus for me if I sometimes get a bit of sidespin action going.

Put the TM TP Red in test also and that's been solid. Tx4 s a great value right now - Maybe $17 - $20 dozen?

I've been wanting to try the Wilson Staff Tx4. Priced at $30 a dozen and considered more of a PRemium Tour ball.

I tried it for hte same reason- saw a dozen about a year and half ago on bst for 20 bucks. They're GREAT balls, as long you're not playing in the wind. I tried it today in gusting winds and some of my shots looked like they got slapped in the face at their apex.

Back to the topic, GO FOR PRACTICE BALLS! They're legal for tournament play so you know there aren't any actual playability issues. They're usually just slightly misprinted and therefore cannot pass quality control for cosmetic reasons. I got 7 dozen maxfli blackmax (a very good and underrated 3 piece ball, comparable to the pro v1 at the time) for 12 bucks a dozen. No complaints whatsoever, as good as any ball I've tried.

If you look around, you can probably find a similar deal on a 3 piece balls marked practice. They'd probably be a slightly less popular and slightly older model but for a dollar a ball and premium 3 piece performance, you can't go wrong.

this is just me. but i got a calllaway diablo and its the nicest ball ive ever hit. not too much spin off drives(to reduce my slice) and putting they are amazing. only 30 a dozen

I hope those are canadian dollars, those should go for 22-23 a dozen

no spin on those either, they'll be hard to stop on fast greens

I say hit the Vapor. I plan on it when the supplies of ZURS runs dry. It looks like it is the new Ignite, basically the One Black (Tour D I believe now) with a surlyn cover. You can check the charecteristics of the ball on the box and I think the only difference is the short iron spin with the Tour D getting an 8 and the Vapor getting a 7. I never had a problem with the Ignite before and I swing just a tad harder than you. Plenty of spin there and distance as well. Plus I just like the feel of the Nike ball. The Trispeed has been on my radar for awhile as well. I never really liked the NXT Tour or Extreme. They were a little hard for my taste and they didn't spin like the Nike.

I just picked up four dozen callaway hx tour 56 and 3 dozen callaway hx tour for $38 total.

gotta love lostgolfballs.com

Its also a good way to test out some balls without spending tons of cash. Get a dozen of the AAA quality and test em out. Trust me, they are more than playable. Im on my 5th order and Ive yet to find a ball that is unplayable in there and alot of the time the AAA is equal to the AAAA grade.

Also, DIcks has MAXFLI tour fires for $14.95 a dozen, totally a good deal.

I'd go with the Topflite Gamer. Great combination of distance and spin around the green. I played it all last season and was pleased with the bite it had on the greens.

I'd strongly veto this suggestion

the gamer is so fragile that after just 2 short iron shots, it'll look like it's met a cartpath with a vengance

the extra few bucks to upgrade to other balls is well worth it IMO

the amount of cover that the gamer sheds every time you hit it makes it darn near useless IMO

I've never seen or played a ball with worse durability than the gamer, (don't get me wrong, bad durability would be acceptable if the ball played amazingly, or if it was WAY cheaper, but the gamer fails in both those categories)

+1 on the vapor, I had a chance to play this ball for a couple rounds & IMO it's performance and feel is incredibly good for a mid priced ball.

Remember the 2009 big bertha balls are supposed to be much better and different than the previous.
