Best mid-price ball???

ok, so far i've picked up some bridgestone e7+, srixon trispeed, burner tp and some 08 nike one platinum.... i believe that's a pretty good starting point. I haven't had a chance to play yet but i'll let you guys know when i do. Thanks for all the suggestions i'm gonna continue to add to the collection until i find the right one. Keep the suggestions coming!!!

Damn, I really only saw them once at golfsmith and bought approximately 8 milion. I didn't realize they were hard to find. Unfortunately, I only have a dozen left....at least it's an excuse to use a slightly more modern ball, though to be honest, I've yet to find one that really performs any better than the blackmax.

Yep... go to your local Golfsmith, as they have Taylormade Red & Taylormade Black Practice balls ('07 yr. models) for (I think) $15 per dozen. These are AWESOME golf balls, as u'll get great distance along with plenty of spin for touch on the greens with the short irons/wedges.

I wouldn't necessarily say the Vapor is Tour Caliber. This is confirmed by GolfDigest's Ball Charts. Tour Balls spin alot. Whereas the Burner TP is up there with the tour balls, spinning even more than the Callaway IX and the Nike Tour D, the Vapor is outspun by the Diablo, and takes a back seat to even the regular Burner.

 

+10 for the Burner TP.

SSHADOW2 - Very true on the full-swing shots I saw the charts, but I also saw the "Hotlist" section of gold medals where the Vapor led in Performance and Innovation. I'm guessing if you played them side by side they'd compare favorably. I've done so and they did for me.

 

I would, and have, chosen the Burner TP for myself. I think it's better. It definitely spins more.

 

The Vapor is really good too. It flies higher and lands a good bit more steeply than the Burner TP which I see as negating, a little bit, the lower-spin factor. They will hold and check.

 

For anyone above a 5 hdcp. looking for bang-for-buck in a mid-priced ball will get all the performance, out of either one, that they could need. I should have said: "Tour caliber enough, in the hands of a 5 hdcp. looking to save some $$."
