My Titleist Golf Ball Dilemma

Today I used the final 2007 Pro V1x ball from my stash. I then put the new 2009 Pro V1x into play. I was met with a drive that felt considerably harder than the 2007 ball, and traveled 15 or so yards less. The fairway wood and iron shots were also shorter and felt hard. The short game aspects seemed pretty much the same between the two.

 

My question/dilemma is this, will the 2009 Pro V1 play more like the 2007 Pro V1x in terms of ball feel (softness) and less driver spin?

If you like the 2007 version I would just order some off lostgolfballs.com. You get the ball you like to play and you save money. Just get the highest grade they have available and you'll never even notice a difference.

Your findings are similar to mine and that is why the Pro V1 is now out of the bag. I bought a dozen of the 09 balls and hated them. I did not like the short game feel at all so I sold them for $20 and went out and found a ball that I feel is superior to the Pro V1. It is a little firm but the ball does everything that I want. The TM LDP Black fits the bill in what I needed and the added durability over the Nike One Tour is why it is in the bag. Also you can't beat 2 dozen for $55.

Today I tested the Bridgestone B330 RX. I like this ball, plays very similar to the 2007 Pro V1 for me.

Thats funny, cause my findings are that the 2009 prov1x are further than the 2007 model in driver, irons, and wedges, feel is pretty much the same, I love the 2009 ball, I dont spin it too much.. Just goes to show how different everybodys findings are, people should not go by what someone else says, but by that individual going out and testing for themselves... Hope you find what you are looking for

My Swing Speed is in the mid 90's, but the 2007 Pro V1x was a better choice than the 2007 Pro V1 for me. The reduced spin off the driver was a key. The 2009 Pro V1x was just not compressing the same for me, thus the distance loss and harder feel. It just goes to show that there is no one "best ball".

That is basically my swing speed also and I also play the 2007 ProV1x. I've tried the new Z-star and I have found it to be shorter than the 2007 V1x.

This mirrors my experience. I feel the 2009 has more distance with both irons and woods. They must have dialed back the spin a bit - the ball still grabs greens well though. The 2007 ProV1 and ProV1X both spun too much for me. I like the feel of the 2009 ProV1X as it feels firmer (obviously) than the ProV1 but "better" (not necessarily softer) than the 2007 ProV1X. I would describe the feel as solid. Putts feel great too.

I have found the balls from Bridgestone to be superior to the new ProV1's.

I used to love the 07 ProV1x. Now I love the 09 ProV1, great ball and very comparable to the 07 Xs. I spun the 07 ProV1s too much, but the newer 09 version spins just enough, and it's length is comparable to the 07 version.

 

Give the new 09 ProV1s a try.
