How many balls do you lose in 18 holes?

Usually 2 or 3. My worst was 11 on an insanely bad day, I wanted to quit so bad that day, I had to borrow a few from my playing partner. I told him to only give me his old shag balls but like the champ he is, he insisted I take his Nike Plats. The longest I've gone with the same ball is somewhere around 60 holes, between 3 and 4 rounds.

I typically finish with the ball I started with when playing on my home course, however, when I venture off to other local courses, it could be 2-3 on a bad day.

On average, I would say less than one per round. But we all have our bad days and can get 2-3, on the other hand, playing pro v's and v1x's it only takes one good wedge shot to wrinkle the cover and ruin a ball for me, which stinks.

Played 9 holes last night. Got to #9 tee box (150yd par 3 with carry over water) Said to myself wow I haven't lost any balls tonight. Tee shot goes for a swim. LOL

Typically a ball lasts for 3-4 rounds; by then it looks worn.

1-2 balls per round, since I started playing B330-RX I look a lot harder for my ball if it goes in the woods, I can't afford to lose any more than 1-2 per round :tongue:

Still a beginner so it varies. Earlier this week, I lost 7 balls playing 9 holes. Today, lost 2 on 18 (and found 3, 2 of which were nicer than what I was playing).

I voted 2-3, but like most ~20 handicappers, I can have some days where I lose none, and some days when I lose 7 (like my first round of the year - thought the course was flooded and you couldn't really go looking). Longest I've gone with the same ball was 36 holes with a beat up old 50 out of the course dump bin. Best cold weather ball I've ever played.

 

This is why I enjoy playing $1-$2 balls like 50s, Gamers, Laddie Xs, and Exceptions. I don't add additional stress to my game worrying if I hit my $4 ball into the water. If I do, whatever. I don't spend a lot of time looking for them either!

I've gotten better where I only loose 2-3 balls but I did have a round recently where I lost 7 balls, I found a few while searching for mine. the course I was on had heavy tree lined fairways where if you were any more than 3 or 4 yars off the fairway you may as well kiss the ball goodbye; which I did several times, and by the number of other lost balls I found alot of people were in the same boat.

I voted 2-3 as I tend to be lackadaisical when I am just out there knocking it around, I would say when playing in a tournament 0-1 as I try to exemplify good course management.

My home course has a lot of large ponds around many of the greens and fairway run offs, can at times quite easy to hit what you think is a good shot and find yourself in the drink

It can range, I've been losing a ton in the rough lately. Nothing worst then hitting a drive only a few yards off the fairway only to not find my ball.

Anyway, it really depends on the course. There's very little water on my home course. I rarely lose balls there. But put me on a course where there's water down the left often, and all bets are off! LOL

Play where I play and you'll lose plenty. I think I have a low of two and a high of seven.

Haha - after I say I lose 2-3 a round, I play 9 with the same ball, then play 18 with the same ball, plus find a Titleist NXT-Tour!

 

So +1 net for 27 holes, even though there were lots of trees and water. I'll give credit to the new balls I'm trying, which seem to spin a lot less off the woods (Maxfli Tour Fire).

The rough is up and it's so wet here you can lose a ball anywhere. Nobody behind us last Saturday and we refused to accept a ball hit on the fairway could be lost, after 15 minutes we found it plugged in on of the drier parts of the fairway.
With the rough up I'm losing on average a ball every 2nd or 3rd round although I lost 3 on Monday in the medal, still made buffer but kicked myself all the way to the pub.

Normally I lose about 1 a round.

However I played a round at a course I have never visited before that has water on every hole and I lost my entire supply of balls (15) by the 13th hole so walked off in disgust for a pint in the bar!! Needless to say it was a bad swing day!

Every so often one or two. Probably more in the fall/winter time. Last few rounds haven't lost one. BUT, everytime during midround, if I mention that I haven't lost a ball yet, I'll lose one in that round.

Honestly I rarely lose balls. If I averaged it out, I'd say 1 every 4-5 rounds.

My biggest problem is scuffing them up on wedge/short iron shots. I usually swap out balls every 3-4 holes.

75% of the time none, 24% of the time 1 (generally on the first hole), but that 1% bit me in the @$$ last week, new course (for me) no practice/playing in 3 weeks and it was hot and humid after a long day at work couldn't keep my legs under me and put everything right. I think I lost 7 balls it was a miserable round for me.

I lost probably three on one hole yesterday, but I put my shoulder out on the first tee and had to give up the round. At least the desk girlw as nice enough to give me a rain check for the round and a free cart.

So instead I went ball fishing. Found four Titleist Pro v1s and a couple of Calaways plus five or six misc balls in the lake on one hole.

The first time I ever played on a course about 2 years ago...30...lol. Most expensive and frustrating round of golf EVER. Now I lose about 4-8 balls a round.
