New Look for Tiger's Ball in 2010!!!

Recommended Posts

Hot Off the Press!
I don't know if this has been posted yet or not but I just heard from my Nike Rep in Minneapolis that Tiger is changing up the look of his golf balls for 2010. He is changing the lettering and the swoosh to a New Victory Red paint scheme.

To top that, Nike has decided that starting in 2010, the Nike One Tour and Tour D Golf Balls will be sold in 15 ball packs at a lower price (than the current) and will include 4 sleeves with the traditional black swoosh and 1 sleeve containing balls with the new Red Swoosh!

Pretty Solid Deal from Our friends at Nike!!

For all you NIKE haters out there, I believe that NIKE is having the most buzz out there after their hard goods meetings. It is crazy to see everyone talking about the new drivers and putters, and now the wedges. Don't forget that NIKE Golf has only been around for 9yrs now(in the club business). For the guy who said that there are some deep ties with Ben Hogan and his products, I love that and I believe that Mr. Stites worked for him.

I can't wait for the new putter(#2).

NIKE makes great product for every type of player, they just don't pay hundreds of pros to play there products on thrusdays!!!

NIKE Tour and Tour D are great balls. I hope this does not change people's thoughts on the ball in a bad way

Taylormade and Titleist definitely have more staffers. Nike is probable on par with Ping. But I would bet Nike staffers make more than most, mainly cause their staff is pretty amazing compared to everyone elses.

good news as the nike one tour D ball is the best I've ever played. The titleist pro v1x and also the callaway tour ix didn't hold a candle to it. I found a nike one ball on the course and played with it and out the window went the titleist and callaway.

Nike doesn't pay as many players? Nike is being played on tour because players prefer the equipment? This is NIKE we are talking about, one of the largest companies in the world!!! You guys are so naive. Nike has made a multi-billion dollar corporation out of sponsorship and branding, they practically invented it. Look at there list of tour players, they are all big name winners who not only get free equipment and perks, but also get paid way more than other players at other companies. All of there staffers were also winners way before they joined Nike, it wasn't Nike that took them to the top. Many of Taylormade and Titleist staffers are not hauling in huge paychecks from the company, they benefit mostly from equipment perks, etc.

I'm not saying that Nike's equipment sucks, I'm just saying that don't be fooled for a second that Nike is doing things from the ground up. I think you can some it all up with the fact that they paid Tiger Woods an unprecedented amount of money to play their clubs and he is almost always unhappy with what they come up with. His equipment is far different from the Nike stuff we can get off the shelves because of this. Tigers decision to play Nike is a business decision, not a players decision. I always like to look at who a guy comes up with (Titleist, Taylormade, Mizuno, Cleveland)

I agree with everything but the bolded part. Mainly because I believe he he can play whatever clubs he wants, as his contract allows(ed) for that. and second, do you think that the other top guys are playing clubs we can get access to in retail form... I doubt it, i am sure they all have custom grinds, or small tweaks here and there that set them apart from retail versions. Just saying that every company has certain clubs/perks that are available only to their pros, that is just the way it works out. Nike just happen to spend the most per player, although I would be interested to see what guys like Adam Scott / Geoff Ogilvy / Zach Johnson etc are making with titliest/cobra compared to AK / Stewart Cink at Nike

I guess you are saying QUANITY over QUALITY? I would what the percentage from staffers to winners there are? Maybe you could come up with that one.

I'm saying that apart from special grinds and tweaks, I think Tiger's equipment is far different than the shelf stuff. Tiger has always been a traditionalist with his equipment. He rarely ever changes his clubs and has never gamed any of Nike's trendy clubs. Also, who has copies of Nike contracts? Everyone seems to be an expert on terms of contract. Why would a company pay a player millions of dollars to be the face of their company and allow that player to play and use any and all competitor equipment? In Tiger's circumstance I'm sure he requested to be able to play his Cameron putter that he will probably use indefinitely, this is the "other equipment" in his contract I believe that people refer to. Nike staffers being allowed to us whatever they like would be like Jordan signing with Nike and then wearing Adidas sneaks... never happen. And also, why would Tiger, the face of Nike, play other clubs while he is collecting millions of dollars from Nike? Wouldn't look good. If you look at any tour players' bags, most of them have a club or two that is not from their primary sponsor. I'm sure he has his favorite club maker forge his clubs and stamp Nike on them. I'm not saying they're Miuras or Mizunos or Titleists like everyone suggests. I'm saying they are probably handmade sticks that Nike puts the swoosh on.

Anyway, the new Nike VR driver does look much better than the previous models. No go on the VR blades and Wedges... just don't feel solid to me. Keep on improving NIKE!

So should I take this blind, unfounded speculation of yours with more or less credibility than you just gave to those purporting to know how Nike writes up contracts? Sorry just a bit confused.

For the record, you're both wrong.

Nowhere in NIKE staffer contracts does it say they have to play NIKE clubs if there is something better out there.[/quote]

Hmmmmm, that is NOT correct information right there. You bet your behind that if you ink a deal with Nike, you are playing their stuff. Just FYI, driver is MANDATORY.

To think tiger signs with nike and nike doesn't hold him to a club agreement is just wrong. They pay him he plays their equipment, wears the clothes. Nike is new in the golf world, they have made leaps and bounds in the 9 years they've been around. Like I said in another thread nike is going after the younger market and in 10 years they will be a top dog.

they maybe going after the younger crowd but their new equipment is crazy good. irons are amazing. one of the best blades on the market. the split cavity set is so underrated. wedges spin like crazy. ball is unbelievable. their target market - GOLFERS in general need to quit looking at the stamping on their clubs and give NIKE a run. the never ending my equipment company is better than yours continues.

BTW - NIKE THANK YOU! the economy sucks a$$ and you just lowered the price on golf balls. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AFTER THE SMALL GUY. i will remember this gesture and give you a fair shake when it comes to HOing my hard earned money!
