Hook machine aka a "hybrid"

Glad to hear 909h helps with hooks which is my problem too, however, do you think they are as forgiving as say new TM Rescue/Adams a4os/burners, etc? I'm thinking of dropping a heavier stiffer shaft in my TM Rescues or maybe trying 909h?

Just given up any hybrid just put the 3iron back in the bag and never look back

As others have said: I thought I'd never find a hybrid that didn't hook, but then I found the Adams Idea Pro Gold at a bargain basement price. They have very little offset...and don't hook for me. :-)

The one that you don't make a hook swing on. Most hybrids will go fairly straight if you hit them with a straight swing. The people that complain about them, are people that already struggle with drawing the ball too much, the club maybe has 10 yards of draw bias, if it's a GI club, and if it's a players club it doesn't have any. It's not the club.

IME, the best hybrid is the Infiniti XS Assure - very iron like, but silly-forgiving. You csn get one at myclubmaker.com for the same price as a used OEM

I'd say the i15, Rescue TP opened, or the 909h. My 585.h isn't anti-left (or right, in my case), but it's still a fantastic club.

funny some of these "experts" just say "dont hook swing", well, I'm a 4 and funny how i dont hook ANY other clubs other than my hybrids and appears im not the only one. my guess is because we r hitting them longer (200+ yards) we r putting little more aggressive swings on them and because they r so small and light compared to our huge drivers, we naturally hook them. im not an expert but if we put them same aggressive driver swing on much smaller/lighter hybrid we will hook them? just my guess, so if i tell myself to swing smooth 80% my hooks turn into nice controllable draws. i do think less offset and neutral faces can help us............. so im on a mission to find a low offset/neutral face (usually less forgiving TPs) that r still mega forgiving............. fun stuff.[/color]

Could someone please enlighten me on these comments I keep reading as pertains to Hybrids and "Hook Machine"? Why would any Hybrid be a "Hook Machine" any more than any other club that you use to play golf? There is a basic way to swing a golf club be it a wood or an iron. When you swing a Hybrid, you don't stand on one leg, shut one eye, or use just one hand. You swing it like you swing all your other clubs. So why all the comments about "Hook Machine"? Unless you hook every other club in your bag, there is absolutely no reason you should be hooking a Hybrid. If anything, it should be the easiest club to hit in your bag. That is the whole idea with a Hybrid. EASY TO HIT!!!! That's why they make them. EASY TO HIT!!!! Let me add to this post.....I'm NOT being sarcastic. I've read it enough to realize that many excellent players seem to have this problem. I'm just trying to figure out why! It must be a mental thing. I bought one for my wife who has an 18 index. From day one....She put the ball out there with a soft draw. She loves that club. So do I. EASY TO HIT!

Most hybrids are made for the average golfer and most average golfers hit a slice. The hybrids are thus draw weighted to offset their slice so they will hit it straighter. This is why better golfers will fight a hook with most hybrids.

I've had my Sonartec MD for years and years. I've hit maybe 5 hooks with it in the last 2 years or so and those were not the clubs fault. I also like the 585H and of the new bunch, the Ping i15 has really caught my eye. If you're hooking them, it's maybe because the lie angle is not right for you. I had mine bent flatter and they are a breeze for me.

You must, must, must put these further back in your stance than a 3 iron (to pick a long iron that's replaced by a hybrid). I naturally put draw spin on my ball because I have a very in to out swing. If I put the club too far forward, the face has a chance to square up (to the target line) before impact, which starts the ball straight with a lot of draw spin = hook. If I put the ball further back, the face is still aimed slightly right at impact, which reduces the draw spin and ends up netting a straight shot.

Agreed...every hybrid I grab seems too upright, but I like my clubs flatter than most.
