Tour Edge Exotics Fariways - Diff. between CB1 and CB2?

Hi,

I seem to be continually posting on this subject.

I'm seeking advice from good ball strikers with experience of both CB1 and CB2 TEE fairway wood (15 deg loft).

I've tried a CB1 5 wood and a XGC 3 wood earlier today.

The CB1 had the stock stiff shaft by Fujikura, a 68g High Launch shaft. The XGC has a V2 75 81g shaft, which is described as low launch.

Both clubs performed well, however the CB1 just "felt" better.

Is there much difference between the CB1 and CB2 in terms of distance or other performance aspects? My choice seems to be exchange the XGC for a CB1 at no cost, or buy a new club, CB2 of CB3.

What's your experience and which shafts work best (to deliver a lower launch)

Believe me I've done lot's of searches on this and also CB3 v CB2. Most of them just comment on the fact that CB2 seems harder to hit than CB1 but gives better "off the tee" performance. From what I've read CB3 seems to deliver the best of both worlds, strong off the tee and good from the fairway.

What's your view on CB3 v CB2 and have you ever used CB1?

I've just tried XCG 15degs with V2 stiff shaft. Feel from this club was nothing like the feel of the CB1 5 wood.

I've just ordered a CB3 15deg and I'm wondering whether I should buy a CB1 (5wood) in my local pro-shop (in the Czech Republic) or whether to buy a used CB2 (5wood). If there's not much difference I'll get the cheaper CB1 and re-shaft.

I put this in another thread
I'll join the chorus in advising one of the Exotics.

CB2 - Very low spin and penetrating launch, some find it hard to use off the deck.
CB1 - Quite low spin, pretty penetrating trajectory and a little friendlier than the CB2.
XCG-V - Higher launch still with reasonably low spin and easier to hit than CB2.
CB3 - A little higher spin and launch than the CB2 but noticably easier to hit.
They are all super hot heads, and the longest one for you will mainly be the one that gives you the best figures IMO. You've got to figure that one out according to your own needs.

I've got the CB2 5 wood and it's just so solid. The loft makes it ok off the deck too for most. I've got the CB3 3 wood but my XCG-V is coming back at it lol. Both are easier to hit than the CB2 3 wood, but i play mostly on pretty tight fairways.

I got my used cb1 last week. haven't changed the shaft out yet but so far i've hit it father than my 3 wood and some drives I haven't. The shaft that's in it put a lot of spin on the ball but that will change when I put the GD pershing that's coming. I like it, solid feel off the tee and could, that a big COULD kick the 3 out of the bag if once shaft change I hit real close to the distance of my 3.

+1 for cb1

CB1 + GD Pershing = long bombs

To me, the CB1 face "feels" better, and the shallow face is easier to hit off the turf. With the right shaft I think it is the perfect fairway wood.

used to have a CB2 and still have an XCG, XCG-V and now the new CB3 Tour. The XCG-V is the easiest to hit off the tee and most forgiving. I put a Fubuki 73g X-flex in it and it (I have a 13*) rolls a ton. off the deck it is tough to hit because of the size (I mean working the ball). If I want to hit it straight I can but if I need to turn it with tight FW's is is hard to do (IMO). The CB2 was as long as the XCG-V off the tee but less forgiving. Easier to move off the deck but if you did not catch it right then it was all over the place.

The CB3 Tour IMO is the best of both worlds. I put a Project X 7A3 in it and it is as long as the CB2 and XCG-V off the tee but more forgiving than the CB2 but not as much as the XCG-V. Much easier to control off the deck and more forgiving than the CB2 and able to move the ball. Spin is similar to the CB2 but less than the XCG-V. All the 3 woods were 13* and open so hooking is really not a problem- nice fade. Hope that helps.

Have had Pershing shafts in my CB1 3 & 5 and boy these are great combos!! Put the 85s pershing in them and the 3 is longer than my old 3 wood. Thought that my old 3 wood would stay in the bag until it just fell apart but man I love the CB1. Glad I only payed $100 for both 3 and 5 and then $30 for both shafts that I put in them. Cant go wrong with the CB1

I was going to say the only difference between the CB1 and the CB2 is the Cb2 doesn't come in lefties
