Has the topic of Persimmon woods helped change your mind on your gamer?

I just ordered an original Smart driver. Shaft is the made for persimmon graphite, R, 44".

For no reason I can see, this popped up in the forum list this morning. Maybe someone posted to it, then deleted the post?

I thought it was a good read, enjoyed it.

Also found it funny, someone who rails against blades in the assorted blade threads in the Equipment forum had posted here, talking about using his persimmons.

Sorry for my part in resurrecting a four year old thread, but as I said, it's a good read.

It popped up because it is a poll thread - somebody must have "voted" on it - when
you do that on a poll it brings it to the current date of the "vote"

Edit:

For some of the guys that don't know - RobotDoctor and freddiec are a couple of the
guys that you should thank for the existence of this forum - they were posting in the
early days of golfwrx (say 2005) on a standard forum and were instrumental in getting
the Hickory, Classic, Persimmon forum going along with a few mods who know who
they are.

Still have a few persimmons, and laminated heads, that get out to the course here & there.

It's a cool feeling to watch someone who has never actually hit a ball with a "wood" react to the CRACK!

[/quote]It's 2015 now.............I have been playing persimmon off and on for ten years. Have several drivers, Hogan, Powerbilt citation, and now a Just smart driver with a graphite shaft. Seems to be very little difference in distance with the Louisville Smart Driver, but was more accurate. Because I sometimes feel I can over swing with ti I flare a few out. Love the sound, look and feel of persimmon and will be playing only that during the summer months. Also have a hickory shafted driving brassie that is the best feedback club I've ever hit. Not long..........215 but always in the fairway so much so it's kind of boring. By the way, hickory shafts I've hit are anything but whippy..........stiff and straight.
