Launch monitors

How do you get somebody to give you straight numbers.
I will just be brief I Know about launch Numbers. My question is how do you get anybody to give you true numbers. I hit some balls with a cobra rep today and he was giving me ballspeed numbers that were around 8 miles an hour lower than last year, launch, spin, etc was basically the same as last year. He gave me a club that he thought would work. Launch was better, but I didn't hit it better than what I have now and he told me that. My distance never changed from year to year. So Who is telling you the real info. They all try to adjust to sell you something. but outside of buying a monitor of your own how do you get fitted properly.

And all my numbers are close to the same with Vector, Trackman, Flightscope etc. Can you take a ballspeed with a 6 iron and come up with something close to what your driver should be.

Just ask. If they try to "hide" the numbers from you, move on. Act curious... if they give you only one or two numbers, ask about the others that they aren't giving you, or better yet, just walk over and look at their computer screen. I've been fit a few times and the fitters always let me see my numbers even if they weren't being particularly helpful. That curiosity helped me avoid spending $350 on a new driver that was "better" than my old one. Turns out I was only gaining 6 yards, but the fitter didn't bother to tell me that that was the improvement I was getting.

As for your question about going from a 6 iron to driver, you can probably estimate your swing speed, but other than that, all the other numbers are very particular to which club/shaft you're using that there's no way to know for sure. You can probably guess a starting point of what loft and shaft flex you should consider, but again, your launch conditions will vary with each club you hit.

Regardless, the person doing the fitting is trying to sell you something and should do what they can to make you comfortable and confident with their club suggestion. If they don't, tell them or tell the manager, or take your business elsewhere.

I always look at the screens, I just can't figure out how I get ballspeeds in the low 150's last year, and with the same driver and not dropping any distance, ballspeeds are only in the Mid 140's Spin, launch, etc. are all the same. So I know They are messing with stats, but I just want reality. But My 6 iron avgs around 86 club head speed and 117 or so ballspeed. Driver last year age. year 102 to 105 swing speed ballspeeds in the low 150's and nothing changes and today just barely break 142. So somebody is lying to me somewhere.

You should get fitted again on a launch monitor by someone who is impartial (ie: club pro, or a sales rep in a store) rather than a product rep. Sure, the pro and the sales rep might still want to try and sell you something, but at least they're not going to try and force you into one brand.

When I did LM fittings I honestly didn't care if I sold anything out of it...but I wouldn't hide the data from the customer. My main goal was simply finding a good fit, regardless of brand.

I don't think the fitter can mess with the numbers since they are all either measured or calculated by the software. Its possible that the difference is in the launch monitor. It could be as simple as a calibration issue. Or, the problem could be that some of them measure most of the numbers, while others measure a few and then extrapolate through various assumptions about your other numbers. For example, I know there is one that measures only ball speed and then makes a guess at what your club head speed is based on how solidly it assumes you're hitting the ball. That can throw things off if you're hitting shots better or worse than it expects. I don't know the specifics of how all of the different launch monitors work, but I believe that trackman and flightscope are two of the best in that they track most or all of the ball flight and measure most of your numbers, and only "guess" at a few. If you're really concerned, find a place that has one of those two launch monitors and go from there.
