Callaway X Proto's Red Heads

I've ordered and received a combo set 4-6 X Forged 09 and 7-PW X Protos two weeks ago. Both are 2* upright. The color code on the X-Forged 09's is white. The X-Protos do not have any indication of lie angle, simple black **R**.

green is one degree upright on callaway irons.

Yep. . .white paintfill is 2* up. When you order direct from the factory. . .tell Cally your desired swingweight and they match heads to fit. Not sure this is reflected anywhere on the club.

I don't think they are consistent. I ordered some custom '09 X-Forged. I received them less than two weeks ago. They were ordered through the Pro Shop at my club directly from Callaway.

I ordered then 1 degree flat. Every iron has "R**" on the hosel and the paint fill is gold. So the color is a match for the order, but they should have "R*" according to the information provided above. I wonder if they took some heads that were 2* flat, made them 1* flat and then color coded them?

As easyyy / Callaway stated above, they'll adjust whatever head they have in inventory to fill the order, and then use the paintfill colour to identify the lie.

The color is more important than where the dots are.
Also, color has no reference to weight.

All I know is the data is different at times. Tour issued Prototypes that are heavy are Red and the color means nothing about the lie. Different models tour and retail color and dots mean different things.

Talk to any tour rep or tour tech and they will tell you the same thing.

Ohh and I will add (as I did above) the red heads that are tour issued have one dot on each side and the retail has 2 dots. Tour heads that are Red are heavy.

The heavy are approx 4 grams heavy and have more meat on the back side the thicker toplines because of that. The heads feel softer in my opinion to. JMO however. Played many of these sets and the red head tour sets are Land ole Lakes soft. I will sleep with my set tonight in tribute to the Endo Japan forgings they are.

Lie angle color = painted top scoreline. and easyyy said the tour issue ·[color="#8B0000"]R[/color]· was heavy. lie angle -painted top line- is not designated on the X Forged or the Protos. thankfully... never understood that. the top line has to be about the[i] worst[/i] place.

So if there are 2 dots on each side of the r, which looks like it has a mixture of blue, white, green, and red..
