Tour Satin or Oil Can? SM or not?
My wedge set up currently is a Vokey 54.10 Tour Satin and a 58.08 Tour Satin SM.

I've got a gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket and I'm pretty happy with my bag and can't think of anything I really want.

My PW is 49* so I'll likely keep the same lofts. Should there be an appreciable difference in how the Oil Cans feel vs. the Tour Satins?

I'm not an expert, but Tour Satin is just a finish and I have tested both side by side and came to a conclusion that they are basically the same feel. I think whatever appeals to your eye. The beauty about Tour Chrome is it requires little if any maintenance and Oil Can needs lots of it, you have to treat it like a baby or it rusts. On the flip side some people like rust.

it's like anything else, you have to go what you think not anybody else. Some people like dead sounding putters, others like putters that click.

I agree. some people say the oil can is softer, perhaps. However, if you can feel the difference between a .01 mm thick layer of metal you've got some exceptional feel. I think things like shaft used, golf ball, heck even grip play a much bigger role in feel.

If you like a darker wedge with zero glare, go with the oil can, if you like the look and minimal maintenece of tour chrome, go for it.

They'll both put crazy spin on the ball.

If you've already got the Vokeys you have, and they are in good shape, I don't see any reason to change. I don't think it'll make a substantial difference in your game. Maybe you could consider spending that money on some good rain gear or adding some more cash to it and getting a rangefinder or GPS of some sort-- something that might make a difference in your game.

You're absolutely right.

There is nothing wrong with my wedges. I have a laser rangefinder and a GPS. I have adequate rain gear. I could use some shoes but don't need them. I guess I'll just hang on to the gift cert until I really need something. How logical and boring.

i only carry two wedges in the bag, not including the pitching wedge, but i have 7 wedges, all in good shape. 52.08*, 54.10*, 58.08*, and 60.06* vokey oil can and 53.09*, 58.14*, and 60.09* nike raw forged. there is no such thing as too many wedges. go get them.

as for the feel, the tour chrome is going to be harder, maybe not noticeable, but it is harder because it has a chrome coating and the oil can is just a hot oil coating that wears off. i personally like the oil can for the color. i don't think the rust is going to improve performance any, and don't think it plays softer, i like it purely for the color.

however, if its a forged wedge, there is a difference in feel between a raw and chrome version.

ha ha. you're allowed to splurge if it's a gift certificate.

question for anyone that's played the regular 200 series and the spin milled in the same loft:

does the spin milled tear the ball up more????? i'm especially interested in responses from people that tear balls up with both clubs... is it MORE of a factor with spin milled???

thanks
