Ping Rapture

Ladies and Gentlemen,

 

this is the newest release on tour from Ping. The new driver is a 460cc composite head with the same alignment mark as the G2 and G5 heads had. The head is currently approved for play in 7.5º, 9º, 10.5º, and 12º lofts. Both right and left hand exist and both exist in all lofts thus far. No word yet on due date as I haven't inquired. It is now up on the USGA approved list for drivers and was put into play by mark calcavecchia. Here is the picture of the sole:

Let's stick to the dictionary for defenitions and keep the bible out of this.

It looks to me to be the result of an unholy union of the Si3 and Mizuno's MX-500. The little graphic is decidedly Adams too. I thought I read something about the club being lime green. I'm assuming this refers to a shaft but anyone have more info?

Well, the original post raised a valid question...namely, how would Ping market this driver given that so many potential customers most closely associate the word Rapture with a religious connotation.

I think that would have been the logical progression, but made the Winn G8 grips had something to do with it?

Also looks like another weight insert of sorts that is glued in ala the TISI. Wonder how long it will be before they 1. Start installing them crooked with glue smears., 2. Start using two screws to secure them in place. Probably about 3 months if history is any indicator.

 

If Rapture doesn't work maybe they can change it to rupture as in rupture the ball or give yourself a rupture when you pay for it.

Don't really have much real presence on tour---didn't pick quite like Cobra did. Their big bomber can't even make a cut anymore. Jose, Ryan, Lee, Angel, Pat, Chris etc. etc. I guess they can still rely occasionally on Calc. since DiMarco seems to have Duvaled himself.

Hey guys, I just left The Jamie Farr LPGA Classic in Toledo today and saw the Ping Rep carrying these things. At first, I didn't realize these were Ping products. The headcovers are bright neon green with black. And I mean bright!! He had drivers, a few fairways and a couple of iron sets. It looks as though there will be some sort of Rapture iron out. Back looked similar to an I5 but had the neon green and black with it. I couldn't get that close.
