Badlands Golf Club
Las Vegas Paiute – Sun
Las Vegas Paiute – Wolf
Las Vegas Paiute - Snow
Rio Secco Golf Club
Revere at Anthem – Concord
Rhodes Ranch Golf Club
Revere at Anthem – Lexington
TPC Las Vegas
Legacy Golf Club

ive only played 2 courses in vegas, the badlands, which is awesome course btw, I really enjoyed it in great shape and fair! also played at the Wynn, but the Wynn is like $500 lol I didnt pay or else I would have never played it, paying more than pebble beach to play at a casino ? kind of dumb but its def a beautiful course and tough also.

I've played all of the courses on your list except Highland Falls. The three Paiute courses would be my first choices.

I much prefer the Paiute courses to the two Revere courses. The others are all okay. Rhodes is typically les expensive than some of the others on the list and not as demanding. Badlands and TPC are nice but tougher and usually have higher green fees.

Here are links to pixof some of these courses:

Do two of the Pauite courses on the 36 hole day (also tell your smoking buds to get the cheap reservation cigarettes while your there)

From that point on your list, I would play the Legacy (love that track) and the Rio Secco.

I would avoid Rhodes Ranch like the plague. Someone mentioned Bali Hai, I am not a fan of that track, and even less impressed by it when your throw in the sky high rates (and low flying airplanes..)

When's your trip? I'll be there the week of October 25. I'll be playing at TPC Summerlin (2x) and of course, the Legacy.

I've played them all, many many times.

Rating = Course layout and design / Condition.

For a multi-course facility you can't go wrong with Paiute. 10/10
2nd on my list would probably be Primm - Lakes (amazing) and Desert courses. 10/10

Badlands Golf Club - Tough true desert target golf. Conditions are as good as it gets, but its TOUGH. Bring the same number of balls that your handicap is. 7/10

Las Vegas Paiute – Sun - Great 9.5/10
Las Vegas Paiute – Wolf - One of the best in town 10/10
Las Vegas Paiute - Snow - Great 10/10

Rio Secco Golf Club - Overrated. Some really screwy holes on the back. 7/8

Revere at Anthem – Concord - Great, better than Rio Secco. 8.5/9
Revere at Anthem – Lexington - Very good., still better than Rio. 8/9

Rhodes Ranch Golf Club - Just ok. not in the same league as the others. 7/5

TPC Las Vegas - Great, one of the best in town. 10/10

Legacy Golf Club - Conditions are not great, course is ok, its a step up from a muni. 7/6

Highland Falls Golf Club - Conditions are not great, course is ok, its a step up from a muni. But does have some of the best views in town. 7/7

Peter,

Hope you're doing well. Been a long time since our round at Sterling.

I agree with everyone, Paiute is your best choice. 3 outstanding courses that are always in great shape along with a fantastic bar/restaurant.

I would second the next choice being Primm Valley which is just one mile south of the California/Nevada border on I-15. 2 very nice courses.

Third group would be Anthem Lexington and Concord, been a while since I played there but I enjoyed playing the courses.

Highland Falls has also a sister course which is Palm Valley in the Sun City Summerlin community. Palm Valley is about a mile from Highland Falls and you probably will get the best rates from them; however, they are pretty much a muni-style course.

If you go to Mesquite, definately get Wolf Creek. It's a long round but definately worth it.

Talk to you soon,
John

I also have played all on your list with the exception of Highland Falls. Unless you want to spend the money and play Shadow Creek the I would stick to Paiute exclusively. IMHO it is that much better. Rio Secco has some good holes, but everyone to a man preferred Pauite. Now, if you want to travel a bit Wolf Creek is a gem.

I played there a few months ago. Beautiful touristy course. Quite challenging from the back. Loved it.

Very vacationy but still some challenging holes and very well manicured. The Food and service was top notch........... (I usually never eat during a round but couldn't resist) Shot a 85 from the tips on a VERY VERY windy day but struck the ball well. I don't remember the greens meaning they were not too hard and in good shape.

http://www.royallinksgolfclub.com/

I played there as well. Wasn't crazy about it. Not in great shape and so so condition when I played it. Windy as hell. I played with a pro that day so that was quite fun keeping up with him but it wasn't worth the drive (About 25 min from the strip). I started double triple and ended up in the low 80s so great comeback rented clubs and all.

2024 Bag TBD

Paiute - doesn't matter which course. All are great. Should be easy to get time with 3 different courses. Try to book as late as possible and check the weather for wind forecast. then add 10mph to it.

Legacy - good lay out, Bermuda greens not always in best of shape. (should be fine in march however.)

Primm Valley - 40 minutes from the strip at the Cali/Nevada border. Both courses are great.

Boulder Creek - Similar to Rio Secco, and Revere. But without all of the goofy shots.

Bears Best - Good conditions, good layout. Rickie Fowler lives in that neighborhood and has been sneaking over for a quick round here and there.

Rhodes Ranch - Long rounds and slow greens. Avoid if possible.

Highland Falls - No much to the layout, inconsistent course conditions.

Badlands - Bring a lot of balls, goofy layout. Either in the fairway, or lost in the canyons. Good conditions. However, the greens run firm and fast, but everything else plays really soft. Recommend as a plan B.

I would do Paiute, Primm, Boulder Creek, Bear's Best in no particular order.

I like the Revere clubs, good length and challenging. Plus a good view of the the Vegas Vally. Rhodes Ranch is nice but as someone mentioned on the posting above their course has a lot of traffic and rounds usually take over 4hrs. if you are using a tour website check out Vegas.com, i know the guy who manages golf and tours there, and sometimes you can get really good rates.

An hour's drive north to Wolf Creek in Mesquite is highly recommended. It's better than most of the courses on your list.

They just opened another course in Mesquite called Conestoga which has been getting rave reviews on this website. I need to get back to Mesquite & play it.

Paiute (3 courses) - Very Good
Arroyo (Arnold Palmer)@ Red Rock - Better
Wynn is great if you have comps but insane otherwise.
Wolf creek and Conestoga in Mesquite are the best bargain and worth the drive.
And don't forget Mojave in Laughlin. Great Place and under the radar. Taking everything into consideration it's probably my favorite and a welcome escape from the Vegas rat race.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I just got back from Vegas last week and hit both courses at Primm and all three at Paiute. I have to say I was impressed by all 5 of the courses and there was some awesome deals to be had as well. The weather was great ( high 60's / low 70's ) and no wind at Paiute which is great. I would take the courses over at Paiute at head of Primm but both are very good.

I have now played a good amount of golf in the Vegas area and these are what I would recommend in order.

1) Shadow Creek - Yeah, it is 500 but it is top notch and in Vegas 500 dollars goes pretty fast might as well get a great round of golf out of it.

2) Wolf Creek - it is a hour or so drive but it is a course that you have to play. - But you better bring your A game

3) Wynn - I wouldnt pay 500 though to play there. I got comped so much easier on the pocket book.

4) Paiute - Any of the three courses ( If I had too I would take Wolf )

I have also played all the Watlers Courses ( Stay away they are overpriced ), TPC, Rio and Lake LV ( now closed ), the Oasis courses as well in Mesquite and those are my top 4.

Just played in Vegas 1 month ago. We went a little high end, but booked it through an operator so the costs averaged out to a more reasonable range.

Played some of the courses on your list:

Rio Secco: solid, good shape, but played some others that were around the same price and better experiences.
Revere: played 36 on the 2 courses, above average and a great choice for 2 rounds in the same day.
Rhodes ranch: forgettable, slow, not worth the time given the other better options available.
TPC: I liked it, great condition, fun holes, a little overpriced.

We also played some real gems, which I would recommend.

1) Dragon Ridge: private allowing outside play. superb conditioning, incredible variety of holes, great views of the strip. overall my favorite of the trip.
2) Cascata: expensive, but a unique experience with isolated holes, FAST greens, and great mountain terrain. a close second on our trip...
3) Wolf Creek: a whole day with the drive, but worth it if you can squeeze in 36.

PM me if you want any more specifics or referral to the tee time service.

Was just out in Vegas a couple of months ago, here are my suggestions. In Vegas, Bali Hai was in great shape. About an hour drive to the middle of nowhere is Coyote Springs. This place is a gem. Have to take the time to go and play there. Also, consider the drive up to Mesquite to play Wolf Creek. Very hard golf course, but very unique.
