2. Blue Ridge Trail, Wilkes Barre, tight layout, speedy greens
3. Jack Frost, Lake Harmony, difficult but playable
4. Hershey CC East
5. Felicita, Harrisburg

I haven't played there in a few years, but it's a fun layout (if it weren't so darn far I'd play there more often). Virtually no trees and high fescue between holes. The fairways are very generous, but if you find the fescue good luck trying to find your ball.

I played wyncote 2 weeks ago in a 2 day tournament. Its in great shape, greens were perfect, fescue is hight, and windy as usual.

I've never played Iron Valley in Lebanon but I've played Lebanon Country Club 3-4 times when I was playing in college. That track is incredible. Greens are pure lightning and there are a ton of really tough holes. I actually won the event my senior year out of a field of 115 players. What a track.

I was supposed to play Iron Valley as a practice round for the LCC Spring Invitational but the weather didn't work out for us. I've heard great things... Hershey is a great course as well. Played there a few times...

I played Lebanon CC once and loved it too. There were a couple "boring" holes early in the front nine, but the back nine is awesome. Was in great condition too. I've always wanted to play Iron Valley across the street, everyone seems to have good things to say about it.

That's Rpyal Oaks, not Iron Valley. iron Valley is up on the south ridge, about 15 min south of Lebanon.

Update from last winter -

1. Iron Valley, Lebanon, almost every shot is challenged by the course
- Hershey Links, V fast greens, lots of forced carries which can be a lot of trouble if you miss the fairway even slightly as the rough is very thick. If you sign
up on their website they send out offers for as low as $59 to play. 1st class operation
2. Blue Ridge Trail, Wilkes Barre, tight layout, speedy greens
3. Jack Frost, Lake Harmony, difficult but playable
- Dauphin Highlands, gets a lot of play making the greens a bit marked up but otherwise a lot of fun
4. Hershey CC East. PGA club pros beat it up pretty good this summer. Might need a redo to keep it relevant. Links is a far better course now. Not even close
to Iron Valley when you can get on IV for $35.
5. Felicita, Harrisburg

I need to get over to Royal Manchester as I have heard good things about it.

Definitely give Royal Manchester a try. I've only played their once and it was in a scramble, but it is a very nice course and I plan on going back.

I think the Links at Gettysburg is a top course as well.

Ranked them in terms of how much I enjoyed the course and the round. Played Waynesborough in a steady/mild rain for the front, and higher humidity on the back.
It's a shame that you played there under those conditions. Waynesborough is one of the best courses in the Philadelphia area and I personally would not put any of the other 4 even remotely close to the quality of Waynesborough.

How goes it, Lux? Hope all's well. I haven't played Waynesb. since its [ongoing] changes. I've played it a ton before them. I'd be interested to see what it's like now.

Aside from the major swing change that I am making that has taken away all of my practice time from putting and chipping, great. :) How are things with you?

I played it a couple of years ago in a GAP match and have also played in an alternate shot tournament as well. It's just a solid layout that is typically in great shape. While it's not the same calibre as say Lancaster, Merion, Cricket, etc it's just a notch below.

No particular order:

1. Rolling Green
2. Aronimink
3. Phila. Country Club
4. White Manor
5. Huntingdon Valley
That's a Philly list! Nick's previous is a very close second. Some seriously good courses on those lists!
Yep, all Philly. I haven't played "out west" near Pittsburgh yet. One day!

Oh, Merion would normally bump something off that list, but I haven't played it THIS year, so... That's the only reason it's not on there.

So far in state this year, and excluding my home club, I'll go with:

Lancaster CC
Huntsville
Rolling Green
Saucon Valley
Trump National Phil (though it is in Jersey technically)

Once I get on Oakmont in a few weeks this list will change.

Haiku as a sig?
They may be overrated
But I'm rocking one!

I really want to play Glen Mills this fall when it cools off a bit. I have never been to a course that nice before though so I am a little hesitant. How intimidating is the course for a low to mid 90s player?
There's a couple of holes there that are extremely difficult (the par 3 7th comes to mind immediately), but play the right tees and you'll be fine.

Personally I'm not a fan of the course and think that much of its reputation is based on the fact that it's part of the school and not the actual golf course.

Interesting take, Lux.

I enjoy the course. It's visually intimidating (you'll wonder where you're going/where you can land the ball) on a number of holes, can be pretty narrow at times, and has lots of danger areas you won't want your ball to go into. And some of the greens are crazy (7, 8, and 15 are just missing a clown mouth or windmill). But it's always in great shape, it's challenging but fair, and is an interesting layout. You'll need a couple rounds before you get comfortable with it, I'm sure.

FlyersFan -- no problem taking a low-to-mid-90s game there. I'd say that most of the people I've been paired up with out there have been that (or "worse"). Play the white tees. I think you'll enjoy it.

Oh, and if you're not as big an Eagles fan as you are a Flyers fan, consider going out when there's an Eagles game on. Although I've never played the course when I'd call it "crowded," there will be even fewer people there when a game is on.
