I am not the original poster, but I can answer your question. The outer portion appears darker and almost black (actually deep purple) due to the translucent paint. When placed in the large cavities like the cherry bombs, the T paint builds up darker around the edges and lighter in the middle. You can get really dark outsides with translucent middles with the amount of paint you put in each cavity. The paint will look dark when you put it in, but throughout the drying process, the majority of the paint will dry around the edges (dark) and will leave a see through center (light).

The translucent paints can be found in many colors at your local hobby or RC store. If you do this, remember how many drops of paint you put in each cavity so they appear the same when dried. If not, you may have some color variation; really dark bomb comapred to two lighter ones, etc.

Nice, I assume whatever you stripped the paint with (what did you use?) didn't affect the finish, would like to try with my GoLo S but I haven't braved it yet!!

Your Newport turned out great. I just picked up a Newport Select off the BST last night and I'm going with a green and gold "Cash is King" theme. What brand and color did you use for the dots? In the photos it looks like a very good match for the weights that I have for it.

has anyone ever paint filled the following:
1) any 913 driver, fairway, or hybrid? Will any other paint or finish be ruined by thinner or paint remover?
2) any body ever try the scotty? same question. worried about the finish coming off

can't answer the driver/hybrid question....but for your putter, no issues. see all the putters in this thread. i left mine in acetone for a while to strip all the fills. no issues.

i like that callaway. lot of great wedges/clubs in this thread!

thinking about doing this to a wedge or two of mine. a lot of videos i see on youtube seem to show no stripping of the original paint. they just go ahead and fill in with the color of choice and then wipe away excess with acetone.... i would much rather strip first, i think it would come out much better.

question: have people found that enamel paint holds up better? how well does nail polish fair?
