I just recently did my wedges, irons and SC. I messed up a bit on the Spin Mill logo on the gold Vokey which I'm pretty mad about but I will go back and fix one day.

Question, I have a brand new Scotty with the powdered black finish. Will acetone ruin it? Or can I paint over the top of the new paint to eliminate excessive use of acetone?

Here is my first attempt at a multicolor "flame" type of paint job. It did take a lot of wok, and more than I anticipated. Are there any suggestions to make this easier or more efficient?

After seeing how awesome all of the clubs look on this thread, I decided to have some fun with my wedges. This is my first attempt at paint filling, so don't judge me too harshly. They turned out better than I thought they would. I used Tamiya model paint and Klean-Strip Aircraft remover to get rid of the stock paint.

These are the four wedges that I have done so far. The vokeys are all gamers, and the mizuno is an old club.
All the Vokeys have white Iomic Stickies.

I should have done a better job wiping the club off (I GENTLY use a rag lightly soaked in acetone) after I removed the excess paintfull (using non-acetone nail polish remover). But, it turns out much better than the pic shows. In spite of what it looks like, the pink is uniform color throughout the club. I can't take an Iphone pic for the life of me.

Again, the colors don't look as good in the pic as they do in real life. Used Red, Blue, and Carolina Blue.

As a Seattle guy, I had to represent the Supersonics with a green and yellow wedge!! These turned out to be my favorite of the 3.

This was the first club that I did. I took this pic before the acetone wipedown. It looks much better now.



Any feedback, tips, etc. would be appreciated. Taking on an old set of Eye2's and a few Camerons over the next few weeks!!

The green was done by Contential when they resprayed the club black. They had filled all the text in which I went back I did the white and silver, so sorry but I don't know what color/brand it is.

Has anyone tried Citristrip to remove the old paint? If so, how were the results?

Acetone is not working on my wedges and Goo Gone was useless.

Aslo, has anyone had any success with paint pens? We don't have a legitimate hobby store nearby, so I am trying to find something that might work from a Michael's craft store.

I tried the paint pens from Michaels on 2 old wedges and a demo/practice head. The results were okay but the flow was inconsistent (ie, sometimes very little flow, sometimes gobs that required a lot of clean up). They required a lot of clean up.

My recommendation is to keep searching for a legit hobby store to get the proper tools or use Amazon.

I tried painting my putter today and the paint came out bumpy. It's really hard not to cross contaminate the paint when you're working with multiple colors. How long do you guys let the paint dry before starting a new color? I'm using testors enamel paint with the toothpick method.

I use the exact same setup, I recommend doing one letter at a time and wiping vertically. This helped me. another thing you can do is put very small amounts of paint on and put it in the letter and wait while it runs, it takes time but looks nice

has anyone had any luck repainting the adjustable sole plate on an R11s? mine is worn and I'd like to do something to fix it up

I used Citristrip to remove paint from a Scotty Cameron Red X. It bubbled up and some of the paint came off, but I didn't find it to be all that effective. I soaked the head in acetone for about an hour and then used a steel brush and the remaining paint came right off no problem. Bottom line, I wasn't impressed with Citristrip. Also, I picked up Testors enamel paint from the Michael's near me, so you should be good.

Went the acetone/bag way today. Did not exactly turn out the way i expected. no paint came out while in the bag and i completely spaced and got acetone all over the ferrule. long story short, the ferrule started to disintegrate and i had black ferrule gel all over my ATV wedge. So, i used a cotton ball with acetone on it and got it all off, but the ferrule is all muffed up. but on the bright side i used a acetone dipped tooth brush and got most of the paint out. Still waiting to put colors in the wedge, gonna go the nail polish route.

[/quote] for the enamel paints I recommend allowing at least 24 hours for drying.

Finished up my Titleist woods. Continental Golf did the crowns and I did the lettering/numbering on the sole.

For the 913, was Continental unable to put the alignment aid on, or did you prefer it this way?

It was actually my choice for the 913. Hind sight 20/20 I wish I would've asked them to remove it on the fairway as well. They told me on the fairway that they could keep it or remove it and it was my choice. Just depends on your personal preference.
