Hi i have painted my golf clubs this week usig acrylic paint and rubbing over the excess with nail polish remover, when i played yesterday the clubs i used more like the 8/9 the paint had totally come off and the other ones have faded slightly has anyone got any tips of how to make the paint stay in the numbers and writing better or a different paint? hardener?
Use Enamel paint (like all golf manufacturers do + Scotty). Acrylic paint just won't hold up as well period.

On the 913 driver, does anybody know if the "racing stripes" are stickers or paint? Also, is the loft (9.5) a sticker or can t be stripped and filled in different

So I am starting my 913 project, the red racing stripe came right off. The grey did not though. After 10 minutes of Klean-strip the grey didn't budge at all. Is the grey paint or is it a metal? Any clue why it will not come off?

I just finished my RBZ tour head with a matte black finish and Texas orange paint. The finish added about 2 headweight points but i think it looks much better than white. Did the same to my R11s but used a different orange and looks too much like the other UT!!
What did you use to for the flat black? Also how well has it held up?

How exactly do you use a tooth pick to apply the paint? and How do you rub the excess paint off on bigger letters? Like PING on the bottom of an i20? Would appreciate the help!
I take a Q-tip to put a little rubbing alcohol into the space to be filled, but only enough to make a very thin coating. Then you just use the toothpick to drop pain into the lettering and the alcohol allows it to flow freely throughout. After the lettering dries for anywhere between 6 and 12 hours depending on the depth of the letters/thickness of the paint, I use non-acetone nail polish remover and a Q-tip to clean up the over paint. That way you can just go around the edges to clean everything up. I've had great success doing it this way.

Hope this helps!

Are you using acrylic, enamel or nail polish? I'm wondering if non-acetone can be used to finish up my project. Testors says I should let the paint dry for atleast 48 hours, so I have plenty of time to figure it out

Plenty of time. I've always used Testor's enamel. I use a heat lamp to "quick cure" the paint, so I leave the paint under that for about 2 hours then leave the heads alone for about 4-6 hours. The great thing about using the Q-tips to clean up is that I can be very precise about how much nail polish remover is used and i can clean up only the edges without getting any remover into the actual paintfill. I can add pics if you'd like to see results. Just let me know!

I'd love to see pics or you can PM them to me. So the non-acetone version works with Testors enamel as well? The guy at hobbytown got me to buy some microbrushes, which work great. how do you apply the remover between letters without getting any into the actual paintfill?

Klean-Strip... Took 2-3 minutes; there are still stripes underneath you cannot remove. They are more of a graphite color, but silver and red pop right off

When I drop a bit into the spots i want to fill in seems like there is a lot of extra paint.. and like way bulged up.. any suggestions.. "I SUCK at this!"
Probably one of two things in my experience.

1. Too much rubbing alcohol or
2. You still have to spread the paint around inside the lettering. The paint drops will just sit there if you don't also make sure to use the toothpick tip to spread it. The rubbing alcohol just makes it so that the paint spreads evenly throughout.

And you don't suck at it - you're new at it. Trust me, a few goes at it and you'll have it down. The best part - you already know how to strip the paint out of the lettering, so if you don't like it or screw it up, you can strip it again and re-do it!!

By the way, I'll have pics of my irons up. Just did them a couple weeks ago using the method I posted above.

Here to help!

Maybe Rory should bag those colors when he goes to Nike, or play on his yellow grips.

I'd be happy to do them for him. Stamp a little clover into the blade, paintfill it a nice lime green...

Looks really good. Did you do black paintfill or is it just left bare? Looks so much better without the racing stripes.

Black paintfill; I thought it looked sharp before. But I prefer subtle, elegant looks. The club with the factory paint in all places but the stripes also looks very good.

I do have a clover stamp. Could always just to an "S" stamp then strike through it with an "I" stamp... D13 looks sharp by the way, well done!

Used a q-tip with Klean-strip from auto parts store on stripes and lettering I wanted to remove (set 10 min), rinse with water

Put small amount of rubbing alcohol into voided lettering

Used Testors enamel (black gloss) with micro brush to paint letting. Let sit 48 hours

Use nail polish remover with q-tip on excess paint, then used finger nail to remove any minuscule amounts remaining
