No. Here's the quick story: I bought the clubs with used chrome plating off ebay, as they would have come out of the factory. I had David Weikman from Houston at Advantage For Golf dial in the loft and lie. Then I pulled the shafts and cleaned them up as best I could, and had them stripped, polished and prepped by Doug Oughton at Oughton's Golf Repair in California. I'm thinking of marketing the finish (Melonite or Salt Bath Nitriding) but would need to find a cheaper way to have them adjusted, stripped and prepped (I don't have the tools or skill). The company I'm working with on the Melonite did an amazing job, but I don't think they like doing small batches, so I don't want to share their name yet. Plus, I think they would need to practice on a few more sets to perfect it, because three of the 8 clubs they did needed to be redone, which they are doing without a fuss. Having said that, if I can get 3 to 4 sets to them per run it would make more sense for them. I want to see how they wear. Putting black KBS tours in, spine alligned and weighted by David too.

Um.... Looks like I'll be looking for someone awesome at paint fill. I stink. I tried toothpicks and stainless needle. I overfill no matter what I do. I can't seem to get the wipe right to remove the excess and I tried letting it dry 5 min then removing excess, and it damages the paint that needs to stay put. Anyone know anyone in Houston who is awesome at this?

I like the look of that "clear" blue.

Looked all over the hobby shops yesterday for a "clear" black to do my Del Mar, but no luck... Anyone know of a good one?

to the OP, do you think that you could post a link to the Tal-strip from where you would buy it online. I'm 15 so I can't drive and my parents drive me all over already so I would like to just order it online.

Pretty sure you have to be 18 to buy the chemical. could be wrong though... just a heads up, you might want to send your pops to the store.

Was wondering what kind of durability everyone gets with the different makes and kinds of paint on iron soles? Thinking about doing my 33s with enamel but is it just going to wear off after a dozen rounds?
I did the soles of my 67's with fingernail polish and it held up great. White fingernail polish at that!

I did the soles of my Titleist 912 MB's with testors enamel paint and is still in great shape. As long as you let the paint dry, you should be in good shape

The paint on the sole of my R11 driver is coming off. Any tips for replacing it? I assume that the white under it is powder coated and won't come off with acetone, correct?
I'm wanting to do this tonight. Can someone provide tips/guidance ASAP?

For the paint removal, you can use Citristrip. It is much gentler when it comes to smell and can be worked indoors. You can get a pint size at local Home Depot or Wal Mart paint section. I've used Tar-strip, however, just don't like the smell of the harsh chemical.

I hate working out in garage, as it is too hot in Houston, and like to do stuff inside where it is nice and comfy. Also, have 7 and 2 year old boys, I don't want the smell of harsh chemicals. I don't have them touch any of the chemicals, however...I just use a Q-tip, put them on my club for about 15-20 minutes, set them aside, and wash it off. Paint fill usually comes off, but for those "pain in the but" hard to get off paint fills, I just leave them over night. No problem what so ever.

As for the type of paint, another alternative is made by Elmer, which is called Painters markers. They can be found at Wal Marts or any of the hobby stores. $2 per pen, and they come in wide variety of colors. Like I said before, with 2 kids, I don't want to deal with harsh chemicals, and these pens are "Non-toxic". I have let my 7 year old do some fill with the pens, as you don't have to be perfect with them at all. Pen is very convenient and there is no brush clean up afterwards.

I started using paint and tar-strip, but now have gone to more "safe for kids" methods. I love working these colors with my 7 year old son, as this is a good way to work on golf equipment and be familiar with the game. Good dad and son time as well.

Let me know if you have any other questions...I now regularly change color scheme on my clubs (maybe little too much).

Just finished-up my putter. Next attempt I think I will find a more glossy model paint. I used the "sharpie" oil pens this time.

Guerin Rife Mr. Beasley Redux - A Black/White trim, Beasley which was losing the black.... Now red and black on the bare stainless....

The logo (was gold, now red) is particularly shallow, so I sprayed a fine, clear gloss, acrylic spray paint on the entire bottom to "seal" the colors in and protect it a little better after the fact...and 3 attempts at the red fill.

Whew!!

I'm happy, pending the durability....
