Last minute golf in Monteray

Late March , Early April

What's the chances of getting on Pebble, Spyglass, Poppy & Spanish Bay over 4 days later this month. I have had to cancel my european holiday so I'm trying to arrange a last minute golf trip to the States travelling from Australia.

I want to play all of the above courses & will be a single golfer trying to get tee times @ any of the above. what's my chances ?

Any recommendations for reasonably priced acc. in the area ?

You can get on Poppy as a single. Call them up. You might want to see if there's a cheap and easy way to join NCGA to get a substantial discount there.

You may also want to do the math on the Duke's Club for Spyglass and Spanish Bay. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting on there as a single. Again, call them.

Pebble is trickier. You'll need to make a time the day before or that day. It shouldn't be too much of a problem though. Check out the web site's "Check Availability".

Chances are excellent you'll get on the aforementioned courses as a single.

Most if not all courses will be aerating their greens at this time.

For accommodations, I would look into the Hyatt Regency Monterey. The Del Monte Course is right next door. It's right off the freeway, and when you head up to Poppy/Spyglass/Pebble, it's one exit up HWY 1 to 17 Mile Drive.

I have stayed there a few times and it's always been a good experience. Call the Hotel directly and ask the manager for the $109.00 rate.

It's been raining like crazy the past few days and is expected to continue for several more. Courses will be pretty soggy for a while. Aeration is scheduled for Pebble around 3-31 if that matters to you. Was hoping to take a trip over to play myself until I heard that. Just prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

we are getting so much rain right now and its suppose to continue for the rest of the week, going to be nasty on most courses

The rain has definitely been crazy and I'm not sure I would recommend Poppy Hills right now anyway. It was recently aerated and the fairways are full of sand. I would consider playing Bayonet or Pacific Grove before I played Poppy (unless you just want to be able to check it of the list). In my opinion Del Monte is the best value in Monterey. They have a great military rate and I think they offer a GolfNow rate as well. I played there last week and it was in great shape...

I forgot to mention, if you choose Poppy, you can pay 55.00 on GolfNow (plus their 4.00 fee) and it includes a cart (due to the aeration).

Just got back from a trip up to Monterey this past weekend. I know it's not what you asked, but I thought I'd give a little feedback. Bayonet and black horse were in great shape. Drained great, with no signs of water accumulation. Del Monte was flooded in a few areas and the sand was like concrete. I would avoid Del
Monte until the weather improves. Del Monte also seemed a little overpriced IMHO.
