Trying not to panic

J33R is misbehavin'
I have driven the ball pretty well this year with the J33R but the last three rounds I've played have been not so good off the tee.

Granted, I haven't felt real good about my swing for a few weeks so that hasn't helped.

The other thing is that I can buy a 905R from my buddy for $150 and I've become tempted in part by my driving issues of late.

What differences if any should I notice between the two heads assuming everything else is equal (shaft, loft, finished length, etc.)?

Hmmm... great price on the 905R.

I have the J33 460 in 10.5º and the 9.5º 905R. Launch angle is similar on both using the same shaft. Go down at least one degree in loft on the 905R due to the higher spin rate. Finished lengths from factory are both 45". Both are pretty neutral, with the Titleist being a little easier to draw. It certainly won't be a "cure-all" for driving woes, but the 905R is surprisingly forgiving for a Titleist driver. The J33 is definitely more "workable" of the two (even though it's pretty straight too.) I don't think the 905R would be a disappointment provided the shaft and loft fit you. Both are outstanding clubs.

... these are my two drivers for 06. the 905r is most definately more forgiving than the j33r 460 which i consider the "mb blade of drivers" bcoz it is so very solid and longer than anything i have hit when swinging well. but when you are off, i am not sure the j33r is the driver you wanna be hitting. the 905r gives you decent results almost anywhere on the face...

Stevie,

How many drivers have you been through in the last 6 months?? :cheesy:

I can't believe that was posted by the "Ultra-Ho" himself. ;)

:fool: ;) ;)

yes, believe it or not, but my ho'ing days are pretty much over. everything in the bag has been set now for over 2, going on 3 solid months. i just switch between a retail 580xd w/757 and a tour 580xd tp w/v2 for giggles.

even though i dont now, im still a :D at heart.

The J33R has been great. You've described what I was battling this weekend. I played Fri, Sat, and Sun and my swing had gotten really steep and a little out to in. I didn't hit anything crisp and it was most sorely felt in the driver.

I had a little practice session this evening and it was somewhat better but had I been playing I would've hit 3 wood and 1 iron on several holes I normally hit driver.
