what's your favorite club/situation?

what's the one shot with the one club you absolutely get giddy over in any given round? for me, i love wedge shots and enjoy it when i have an opportunity to punch a high spin wedge shot from a clean fairway lie into a green and stop it quick.

 

i guess i have problems but this shot really excites me.

Down-wind tee shot on a right to left dogleg. I feel like I can hit about a 15 yard draw about 350 down the middle every time. Doesn't always happen, but thats the one shot I have a ton of confidence in.

200 yards on a par 3. Solid 5-iron all day long.

pin back left with a short iron into the wind. low, trap draw with 2 skips and sit. just love the way the shot looks

65 meter 9 o'clock swing with my GW. On the money almost every time, sometimes get a bit too much bite and spin on it, but I just love that distance.

Approach shots with my 4-iron... even more, knowing I'm getting better with the 3 iron as well ;)

but other than that i like anything around a 20 yard pitch shot. those are always fun.

anything between like 70 and 120 yards the i can bring in LOW with a wedge. just love being able to feel out a distance and then bring it in with a couple hops and a stop.

245y out on a par 5, hybrid to 20 feet or less, hopefully...Love it!

 

A close 2nd would be 75y out, dead-arm a SW, one hop, stop!

8 iron, really closed stance, ball back in the stance, 3/4 swing - huge sweeping draw/hook around the tree that ends up 15 feet from the hole when i am 150 out.

 

pulled it off the other day. not only suprised the three i was playing with - especially after the horrible shot that led to this situation - but even impressed my self. second time i've pulled this shot off in the last 4 weeks. absolutely love it.

You gotta love the 30-50 yard lob wedge low low spinners that hit once and then spin a bunch.i love them

I love playing knockdown shots. Nothing like hitting a 5 or 6 iron stinger from 150 out and having it drop 10 feet from the hole. The lob explosion shot that goes 10 feet is fun to play too.

Blasting my X 3W towards a Par 5 green that's 240 or so away. I can hit this thing extremely long & straight and it tends to draw ohhs & awws. I stand over FW shots with so much confidence with this club.

10-20 yard chip with lots of green to work with. Hit a pitching wedge and allow the ball to roll to the flag.

Playing a long par 5 from the tips knowing you can reach in two if you smack a drive then bomb a fairway wood from about 250+. That certainly gets the adrenaline going. Nothing like an eagle putt trickling in.

 

I lose sleep over this kind of thing, thinking about it the night before I play a big round. My g/f thinks she's already a "golf widow."

Eagle putts . . . they are few and far between, but I love those. lol.

 

95-105 yards out for an almost full E (PW).

 

I also love decent lies from around the green for up and down opportunities (for par).

15 foot uphill putt with about 6 inches of break. for some reason i always feel comfortable over a putt like that. Or being able to hit my 2 iron of the tee and the reach wih less than a 7 iron.

after a wild drive that lands under a tree and I have to pull off a punch shot with tons of shape to hit the green in two. I like trying crazy shots that look like magic... "stinger" type shots that curve 90 degrees either right or left. Very fun stuff.

punch draw around a tree is my favorite and most repeatable shot.

I'm also fond of the hook around trees, but for me the money shot is being about 170 out and even better in the rough or with trees in the way.

 

This is when I just smack my 7 iron as hard as I can and for some odd reason it always seems to work.

 

Too close and I can't do it with my 8, too far and I can't do it with my 6.

 

It has to be the magic 7 iron.
