Project X 6.5 or 7.0 for irons?

Right now I've got 6.0 in my irons and need stiffer shafts for accuracy. My 5 iron ss is 95-100 driver is 115-120. It seems like I'm in between 6.5 and 7.0. Which one should I get?? I am really looking for accuracy right now. Thanks!

I play the project x 7.0 in my callaway x-forged and my swing speed is slightly lower than yours. At first i thought they would be too stiff for me but i found them to be quite good for me. the trajectory is ideal .. you'll do just fine with them!!!

Soft stepping 7.0's once would put you right around 6.7.
[/quote]

Which would mean it would play about 7.2-7.3. Sounds about right for your swing, or you could hardstep the 6.5. Very similar ballflight and spin, I would think.

I have similar SS. Hit my 6 iron 198y-203y. Didn't like the feel of the 6.5's at all. They were OK in the shorter irons but big loss of precision and distance in the long irons. Very bad experience, in my case. Now playing X100 and they feel and launch much better for me. Make sure you try at least the 6.5's before getting 7.0's. BTW, McIlroy plays 6.5's...
7.0 is freaking stiff.

They felt too stiff for me. PX 6.5s are 7.0 FCM. X100 hardstepped are 7.1 FCM...
Maybe in my case, it was more an issue of swing, tempo and feel than SS. But as I said before, I would try them before buying them. How can you know if you're not better off with 6.5 hardstepped or straight in, or 7.0 softstepped or straight in. A lot of costly options when you don't get it right the first time...

Sorry to bring this up again. I have very similar (actually identical) swing speed with you now. This makes me think I should go for a Px 7.0. One thing to note, I have a long backswing compared to typical golfers. Shaft is way past parallel. Does longer backswing benefit from stiffer shafts? Tempo is fast (although its relative, everyone who sees my swing tells me to slow down the tempo) Currently playing Dgs200 and I love ballooning my 6 iron for 10-20meter distance loss. Thanks!

I'd suggest 6.5 if you are moving from S200s. A 6.5 is already a big step up in flex, a 7.0 will feel like lead pipe in comparison to an S200.

Facing this situation too with my sons irons. He currently uses Mizuno MP4s with PX 6.0 Rifles. When he first got them last year, they were perfect. Laser shots with all irons and about 1/2 club longer than his X100 Titleist blades. But what usually happens before is starting to happen again. He gets stronger and then starts to overdraw. When this first happened when he was 12 we tried everything and what finally worked was going to x100s. After 2 years X200s, Modus 120 X-stiffs and then the PX 6.0s.

Now deciding between 6.5s and 7.0s. He's a picker/sweeper, no divot. Plays to a 1.4 hdcp, fast tempo, fast transition.

McILroy plays the 7.0 in his irons and 6.5 in his wedgrs
