New PING Milled Putter Line Drops - Discuss and show urs off too!

Hmm. Seems that the manager at my Golf Galaxy was a bit uninformed on two items.

1. Sounds like they will come in different lengths. He was convinced that they all came 35"

2. Sounds like you might be able to order those grey cord grips. If so, someone pm me! I want some.

I was looking at these new Anser putters yesterday, all models were available in both 34" and 35", I did not see any 33" so I am not sure if those are available through PING.

I tried all models and was looking for something which appealed to my eye and sense of feel, in reality they are all very nice. I particularly liked the Anser with the sound slot, I used that model for at least 15 minutes, great sound and feel to it. The other model which I really like was the Anser 5 with the long neck. This model is for those golfers that have a somewhat straight stroke which scared me a little since I have always had a slight arc when using a putter. Overall I spent just over an hour testing all of these putters, in reality the Anser 5 model was the best suited for me. The finish looks great, I am very careful with my equipment and have no concerns about that. The putter looks and feels great, the grip is very nice . . . Anser 5 is in the bag as of now,ok.gif

Boy has Ping ripped off Scotty Cameron's Newport line of putters. You would think that Ping could come up with some original designs of their own. sarcasm.gif

I love your putter I have an Anser 4 that I love, never liked the plumbers neck versions. What is the difference between the 4 and the 6 model?

Yeah, I know how that happens. You make a stupid statement and when you get called out, it go back and claim sarcasm. You're not fooling anyone.

Dawg,

The moderators added that tag and edited your post ripping me for being stupid.

We all know at least a dozen companies sell and market Anser style putters, which is legal since the patents have expired on the Anser line. But Scotty has taken it to another level.

This is the second time you have called me out for being a dolt, you should be feeling a little sheepish by now.

Your post yesterday made my day now I am not even sure how to feel but I feel a bit sad for you. I wish they did not delete my original response last night as I stated that only a dim witted idiot could not tell I was being sarcastic, and then I made an apology to all dim witted idiots that I may have offended by comparing them to you.

The patent for the PING Anser putter came on March 21, 1967.

Scotty Cameron was born November 8, 1962.

Your statement claims that Ping stole the Anser putter idea from Scotty Cameron when he was 4 years old. (which makes you and idiot)

There's also a little tidbit of info that you seem to just completely disregard in your blind idiocracy:

Scotty Cameron "then began making putters and selling his putters directly to some of the major golf equipment manufacturers, including Maxfli, Cleveland and finally in late 1991 or early 1992 exclusively for Mizuno. In late 1992 Cameron tried to get Mizuno to produce an Anser style head. When Mizuno turned down the idea Cameron and Mizuno parted ways"

The Ping Anser design upon which Cameron's Newport line is based on (along with everyone's heel/toe weighted putters are based on) was designed by Karsten Solheim in 1966, patent 1967. Who is copying who?

Missed it...my apologies. You are a handsome and clever man.

I wasn't even looking for a putter since I've been content with my SC Studio Stainless Newport 2 but I picked up the Anser 2 milled yesterday (looks the most like the Newport 2) and I was amazed. Great soft feel, felt heavier and more balanced than my Scotty Cameron and had a nice traditional look with grooves on the face to get the ball rolling...I couldn't be happier. Just a fantastic putter. I spent some time on the putting greens with it this morning and I was dropping them in from everywhere and the extra weight really gave me a lot more confidence on the 2-5 footers. I can't wait to get a few rounds in with this bad boy...haven't been this excited about a putter in a long time!

TM BRNR Mini Driver at 12° (HWF), HZRDUS Black RDX 70 TX, tipped 1", 43.75"

TM Stealth+ 5w at 18.25°, HZRDUS Black RDX 80 6.5, tipped 1”, 42.5"

2023 TM P7MB (4-PW), PX 6.0, +1/4”

Vokey SM10 Raw, 50.08(F), 54.12(D), 60.08(M), PX 6.0, +1/4" - with leading edge grind

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
