grip type

I start with using the 10 finger. I have a very dominate right arm from many years of tennis and I feel I get more feel and power having all the fingers on the grip. I also had a hand injury to one of my fingers on my right hand. When I ask people including pros "which do you use.. interlock or overlap??" They usually say their pro taught them or Jack did it or Arnold didi it or Harry V did it and so on. I feel there is no one correct grip. I feel I have more control of the club head with the 10 finger grip. I have a nature fade so releasing the head is not that important as to when I try to play a draw.

I use the Vardon Overlapping Grip. Mainly b/c that was the way I was taught, now anything else just feels un-natural.

Used to use a self-taught interlock, but my teaching pro just switched me to overlap.

I started with the interlock and I can't switch. I just feel as if the club is going to fly from my hands with any other one.

I use the baseball grip because that is the way I started. many people try to change my grip but it doesn't feel right.

 

 

Does anyone know if any pros golfers use the baseball grip?

Wow, I'm amazed at how many people voted "Interlock" I was always under the impression that the interlock grip was for people with weaker wrists.

i overlap, but it's not a tight overlap. i guess from some points of view when i'm gripping the club, it might look like a baseball grip--but it's not. :P

interlock. started with 10 finger growing up, then made da switch to interlock once i started getting lessons.

Originally I used interlock but three years ago my coach changed to the overlap I currently use.

When I started golfing back in the dark ages I used an interlocking grip cuz that's what Jack used. Years later when I went for lessons The instructore switched me to an overlap grip. Been that way ever since.

Does anyone know if any pros golfers use the baseball grip?

I know that as recently as last year, Bob Estes was using a 10-finger grip. I don't know if he still does, but I think he does.

 

I started out with a 10-finger grip for a couple of years. When my hands were strong enough and I had the coordination, I was able to switch to an interlock. I find the release of the clubhead to be much more natural with the hands closer together as in an interlock or overlap.

When I first started I used to 10 finger grip because I was also a baseball player and it felt the most natural. I then was taught the overlap and used that up until my sophomore year of high school and had some success with it but then made the switch to the interlocking grip and have been using that ever since, I am now in my sophomore year of college and I carry around a 6 handicap...I feel like the interlocking grip gets my hands together more my set at the top feels firmer than the overlap grip.

Switched from interlock to overlap recently. There's definitely an increase in clubhead speed and I'm "holding on" less to the club. (more "woooosh" too)

definitely! I just switched. looser grip, faster swing speed.
