2012...? I'm thinking he may be back already. Bar the double bogey on 15 or 16( the par 3) he would have shot 65. In those conditions, quite a score. But it is the way he is scoring. Nothing fancy or no freaky TW shots but just super solid golf. I have to admit that ive always been a fan and started to have my doubts but with three weeks of competitive golf in a month I'm pretty sure he'll have a few wins next year and i wouldnt be at all suprised to see him dominate at Augusta next year. Not saying it's a gimme but you can definitely see that stare and confidence coming back into his game.
What were "those conditions"? I was out there today and it was a prefect day! Not much wind (as far a wind speed, though it does swirl in and out of the canyons) most of the day, 65 degrees. Still shot a good score but conditions really didn't have anything to do with his bad shot on #15.

Tiger said he flushed an 8 iron and it came up short in the water. So, either he badly misjudged the distance or the wind kicked up. From the post round interview it seemed the wind played a part on that shot. Wasn't there but it looked like a very good day for scoring.

how old is that driver head?
Didn't read through to see if anyone had responded to you, but it's the VR Tour. I find it odd that he switced back, I mean, I game the exact same head (tour issue 8.5* VR Tour) but I assumed the new Nike head would be better.

I can't stand those shoes.
+1

Tiger used to dress up very good and was in my opinion one of the classiest on tour. I guess it was the Elin era or something :D though I've heard that Nike has someone to decide his clothes. Not doing the best job nowadays in my opinion.

I am sure the biggest reason Tiger wears that ugly shoe is marketing. I hope it is just a phase and he switches back to good looking golf shoes soon.

Even though that shoe is far from a good looking golf shoe I am sure it will sell good in the US. I've been living here about 4 months now and when I got here I noticed that the shoe culture is so much different from Europe. People actually wear running shoes with jeans and pretty much with anything. That must be an american thing. And the shoe that Tiger is wearing looks like a running shoe.

Thank you for the pictures-always fun to look! Not that anyone cares but:

Iam a big fun of TW apparel, but I don't care for the look of the shoes, however I'm thinking they are probably comfortable.

The bag is nice looking, just wish it was a different color.

Overall, I really appreciate the hard work done to get us the pictures! Thanks again.

To me, those clubs don't seem to have the same shape as the ones I can buy at a shop...they look more like the first set Nike made with a vr stamp on them?

Is it me or does his stance look narrow and slightly open? Maybe he's trying to hit more cuts?
Hes trying to make his stock shot a gentle slider left to right. You can tell from the set up and hold off finish, body release. So much easier to time and he doesn't drop it underneath like he did while self destructing(IMO) with hank Haney...
Kind of tough to hit "sliders" gently from left to right when the club face is closed and the wrist is bowed. What's Foley doing out there anyways except looking like a poser?
Wait, who are you?

I'm sorry, but why does Sean Foley insist on dressing like a tour player?
How should an instructor dress? Suit and tie? Jeans and a t-shirt? Every instructor out there dresses like he's about to tee off.
More like, why do some spectators insist on wearing golf shoes while attending an event??? Its not like they're going to be paired up or something.

Forget the clothes. At the Memorial last year, Foley took a club from Hunter Mahan's bag and was hitting iron shots on the range. That was odd.

Loren, That's pretty funny. I was in Torrance, CA two weeks ago and I saw an elderly gent walking to lunch in saddle style FootJoys with the spikes removed (on the sidewalk). He was well dressed otherwise. I don't wear golf shoes to tourneys, but I will admit that my golf shoes are the most comfortable shoes to walk in that I own. I see some wisdom in walking a tourney in ones trusty golf attire.

I run in the free's and they are very comfortable, even for just walking anywhere. Very light but not really much support. basically like a neoprene sock with a sole. I couldnt really imagine using them for golf but the fact hes had so many injury worries of late I'm betting the people involved with Tiger are going down that track to protect his injuries. His swing is changing to avoid injuries, seems to make sense that what he wears on his feet may change?? Plus being Nikes number one man means these shoes are probably early prototypes of a finished product and thats why you wont see them on any promotional stuff for a while yet. The shoes arent that ugly but when you wear white shoes that look a bit different with black pants, of course it can look a little silly.

But really who cares whats on his feet if its works? Reminds me of all the "wardrobe golfers" you see out there looking like theyre gonna shoot 59 but cant hit past the ladies tee...

Im just glad he got a win.. sets up 2012 for a bit of a showdown- Tiger vs the class of 2011. Can only be good for golf.

Great to see Tiger get back in the winner's circle. I wish he would wear black shoes with his get up today but oh well......LOL
I think that had something to do with the fact that he broke the thingy that his lace goes through on Friday or Thursday, I don't remember which. Or maybe I'm just completely wrong.

I always assume that it is for the same reason that players wear them: for better traction on the golf course. After all, you are not always walking on flat ground.

Are there any videos of his preshot routine/drill from the DTL angle? I would really appreciate a detailed explanation of the purpose/goal of that drill and how it does not create an OTT strike - I know the discussion of swinging left and OTT gets a lot of play around here, but I struggle to internalize the mechanics when I see it in action.

Thanks.

How often do you guys look at a man's shoe?
On this website? Seemingly very often. Someone started a thread asking why Steve Stricker looks weird when wearing a ball cap... My initial response was, what in the heck? But some people really get wrapped up in the appearance of other adults I guess. Personally, I could care less. Tiger could wear pink polkadotted Ronald McDonald boats and still be better than any of us on the boards. I raised issue with wearing golf shoes to watch an event because there's something about FJ Classics, too short shorts, and old man Sunday's best church socks that draw attention (especially if you're not actually playing).

Tiger is trying to get the face square to open at the top...which is the backswing of his preshot routine. He then is swiinging left and not over the top. The drill exaggerates both movements as he has said he has not mastered it yet. His tendency with the new swing has been to be shut at the top which is a big-time killer. If he can get the clubface open at the top, then I say lookout world. There will be many people eating crow if that is the case. Once again it will be the field vs. Tiger.
