they were never released to retail in pro plat but there were some released to tour, you would need to send it in to verify that, it is more likely a refinish as the pro plats i believe have the three dots on the face, i could be wrong but i have a feeling Lamont would know more and will prolably chime in

Could be refinished but it could also be a Tour Issue European. I had what looks to be the same putter and it was a Tour Only Release (Pro Platinum) in Europe. It was worth around $450.....very nice putter.

Here was mine:

Registry # A011157

Now that I think about, the value was more in the $550-$650 range.

thanks for the reply's, as far as i'm aware it hasn't been refinished and was kept as a collectors item since new but can't be 100% sure. i thought a refurb at the custom shop would mean being stamped. i may send it off to the custom shop along with a circa '62 #2 i've got, i've stripped it back and its raw at the minute, i like it but in england we get too much rain and it likes to rust

One more thing to think about is if it was refinished from gun blue to PP at the custom shop they would have put the CS stamp on there somewhere. Could be one of the Euro Tour sticks. IRC, he did that because of the wet climate in Europe.

The last poster was spot-on in his thinking of the Euro version of the Santa Fe. 99% sure that this putter was one that was made for VIP's use or for European export. Scotty did this finish for the exact reason that the OP has issues with the black oxide finish, weather. By plating his putters in this beautiful nickel variant, he was able to export a durable version of some of his best works to a climate that needed the extra protection.
The cool part? If you do get a chance to send it in for a COA, it will come back as a "MADE FOR TOUR" certified putter. Was it made for tour? Probably not, just for export more than likely. But, having a COA that says it was made for tour is a very cool feature and adds a little $$$ to its value.
All in all, she is a beauty and I hope that you are able to treasure it for the putter that it is.

It's pretty but I think the Lola Prototype in my bag may have it beat! Might have to send it back to you to have the initials removed.

Any chance you'll give him a piece of paper that says "made for the tour," LaMont?

Have owned two of these. One was an AOP model, and the other an original Classic. COA A001749, and A002404. Both sold for $750 back in 2006, before the decline in prices.

COA's will say "for tour and VIP's". These were probably pre-production samples. Fact is, the Titleist/Cameron catalogue for the UK from 97/98 shows the entire planned line of pro platinum putters, including a SF. As you may remember, around that same time, Cameron stopped using Bettinardi to make his putters. Suspect this line was a casualty of that. The eventual Pro Plat line was much more limited as to models available.

Hope this helps,

John
