:crazy2: I've perused 808golf's forums a few times. Really, I hate to be harsh since I'm sure a few of them are members here, but there really is some bad information put out on that forum. More then once I wanted to start a topic to tell them if they want to learn anything, come on over to GolfWRX. Even their suggestions for clubmakers was terribly rediculous.

I'll head over tonight and check it out since I haven't been there in awhile. I might even post....they'll all be wondering "Who is that pitbull808"

I have not seen the post, as I don't hang out at 808golf. I have to agree that I think it is absolutely ridiculous that people with small imaginations try to limit the possiblities for others. Especially junior golfers, who are young and impressionable. We should teach these kids to dream big and reach as high as they can. Thank god Bill Gates never listened to the fools who said nobody needed computers and Columbus never listened to those who said the world was flat. I wonder how many fools tried to tell Earl, that Tiger would never be as good as Nicklaus? If Kaneko wants to try to qualify for the Sony Open, then more power to her. Sadly, if she doesn't qualify, the idiots will say that they were right. The irony is that many of these narrow minded people probably don't have the game to even try on their own. These people should go and try to qualify as well. Then we can see how much better Ayaka Kaneko's score is than their's. What next? Amateurs should not be allowed to play in professional tournaments at all? Let's not forget that Phil won a tournament as an amateur. But, I forgot, Phil is a guy!

Bottom line is this. Hawaii has some phenominal junior golf talent, both male and female. We should be supporting them and encouraging them to go as far as they can. The worst thing that can happen is that they can fail! I promise you that it won't be the first cut they miss and it most definitely won't be the last one. All the chauvinists and testosterone junkies need to check their egos at the door. Let them try. Let them play.

Argh...So close to beating OSU, yet so far....

Yup...that sucked. OSU really did a great job getting the crowd out of the game. I think UH played a bit conservatively. The first two field goal attempt in the past would have been jut another offensive play. Plus the going for the field goal instead of the 1st down. I think Jones knew it was going to be tight and was trying to get points on the board instead of going with the usual game plan.

Oh well..there's always the bowl game. GO BOWS! (yes...old school here) :crazy2:

Keeping in mind that this OSU team beat USC, they are a pretty good team that is pretty well coached. For UH, this was a game of missed opportunities. We missed field goals, threw a pick in the end zone, Colt overthrew his receivers on a couple would be touchdowns, there were one or two catches that were "short-armed", we went for the field goal deep in the redzone in the 3rd, Colt underthrew Rivers on the critical 4th down attempt. We had our chances, but just didn't get it done.

When UH kicked the field goal in the 3rd quarter, I told my buddies that this was going to be the critical error in the game, since it looked like we needed to stay with OSU score for score. While I know it defies conventional wisdom; we were having a lot of trouble stopping them. We needed a touchdown. Sure enough, the game would have been tied 35-35 if they had made the touchdown and the PAT (instead of having to go for two and blowing it later in the game). If they didn't convert the 4th down, they would have had OSU pinned deep in their own end anyway. If they didn't score, 35-28 would be the same as 35-33, it's still a loss. :)

Not a horrible game for Colt, but I think he has taken himself out of the running for the Heisman. I know it was a longshot, but a good game would have elevated him, in the face of his competiton wilting. Still, just one touchdown away from the TD record and a bowl game yet to come.

Go Bows! See ya at the Hawaii Bowl! :crazy2:

As we edge ever closer to Christmas, I just wanted to do a little public service announcement. As hard as it might be to imagine me, of all people, not ho'ing anything during this Christmas season; it's true. Instead, I am gonna try to brighten up the lives of some people who are less fortunate. You can too.

If you have the means, I encourage all of you to stop by a shopping center, go to an Angel Tree or Lokahi Tree and take a wish or two. All you have to do is read through the tags and find the one (s) that you wish to fulfill. Take the tag to the volunteer, who will take your information, then go shopping for the gift. You don't have to wrap it, just bring it back to the volunteers along with the original tag.

I used to do this every year, but I have been very busy (work) the last two years and have not been able to get around to it. This year, I have decided to do a bunch of them. The wishes come mostly from children and seniors. What really gets me is that many of the items these people are asking for are what I consider basic necessities. There are seniors asking for stuff like food, blankets, sheets, towels, rice cookers, radios, and hot pots. Some of the kids want slippers or back packs. Some do ask for expensive gifts, but many are very reasonable. So I am giving up a new high end driver this Christmas to make some wishes come true. My golf bag won't know the difference! :crazy2:

Very cool thing Tony. I had no idea that there is such a thing at the malls. I guess since I usually do my shopping on Chrismas Eve.......in about two hours....I don't spend much time strolling. Just grab, buy, grab buy. Makes decision making so much easier. :crazy2: But I think I'll definitely check this out. Is this at Ala Moana?

Yep, Ala Moana does have it. Most of the major shopping centers participate. Ala Moana even features a drive through drop off area if you have to go elsewhere to buy the gift. That way you don't have to go back into the mall. I finished buying all of the gifts and dropped them off yesterday. I couldn't help looking at the trees again. My wife and I are even tempted to do a few more. Can't explain it, but it feels good.

That is a very cool thing to do. My girlfriend and her parents do the Toys for Tots every year as well, which is another reason she's a keeper. This year she also found that at Barnes n Nobles they have a similar thing to the Lokahi tree, but set up for books only. Definitely, one of the reasons Christmas is the best time of year.

After years of indecisiveness and contemplating my good old buddy pb808 (aka ultimate ho', sandbagger, etc..) finally entered & finished this years Honolulu Marathon. I presume he will be in pain for the next couple of days. I just wanted to give kudos :fool: for the accomplishment and say that I'm proud of him for finally doing it ;)

Wow, congrats (cool) I'm impressed. I think a Marathon is sitting in traffic when commuting to town, but good on you!

Thanks Russ and Rick. I actually just woke up. After getting home from the marathon, I took a long HOT shower and just lay in bed feeling aches that I didn't know were possible in my body! :beach:

Russ you're right about the years of contemplating. I acutally have been thinking of this since high school and have entered it twice before only to chicken out on marathon day. I'm so glad I finally did it. It probably would have been better if I was somewhere near to being "fit". As I told Sean/808golfer, my long walks are on "cart path only" days. :yahoo:

It was a great day though. I never thought it could be so emotional at the finish. Yeah...I'm a sissy...I almost broke down at the finish. :yahoo: What a feeling though. I wouldn't trade the aches and pains for anything! At the moment it's hard to decide but I'm really thinking of taking it much more serious and going for it again next year!

Well, you can get ready by joining me in February for the 2007 Great Aloha Run :drinks: I wanna see if I can break the 51 min 07 sec time that I ran 18 years ago... :yahoo: Yeah right, I'll probably hit that time mark at the halfway point.

Thanks Carl. Yeah...there were a lot of EMS vans that passed me. I made sure to drink a couple of glasses of Amino Value and Water at each stop. I think with every van I saw I actually made sure to drink an extra glass! Pretty spooky watching people drop off here and there.

Russ....at this moment when I have body parts that I didn't know existed hurting...the last thing I'm thinking about is making another run. BUT...after picking up my certificate today...and watching all the "walking wounded" there along with me smiling through the pain. I think I've found another hobby. Where's the application! :yahoo:

Right now Dwight...when the only thing that doesn't hurt are my finger...(or I wouldn't be typing)....I'm ready to call one too! I swear this Advil diet isn't helping at all! (cool)
