Newbie putter addict...my start

Alright...so i'm a little bored and figured i'd start this thread. I've been emailing back and forth with Tom. I had some ideas from seeing other putters around.

So what we are starting with is a Scotty Cameron Catalina 2 Oil Can 1998 1st run. I'm sure i'll probably catch some flak from SC purists on changing things up. Oh Well. (I do have another one that I sent to the chop shop to be restored back to original) Anyways here are some pictures of what we are starting with. Sending the club out to Tom on Monday.






I'm hoping Tom will chime in once he gets the putter and starts work.

Its going to be getting a new custom finish along with a new shaft and custom neck welded on. I gave Tom some artistic license for the paint fill to make it pop. Not quite sure yet on what putter grip I will be installing on it, but once I see the paint fill i'll be able to make that decision. And for a head cover...who knows.

I wanted a polished and twisted neck along with a head that has a different finish. I have another 1st run that is being refurbed by the SC shop, figured why not do something different with this one.

I told Tom I wanted a 1 of 1 in there and something else on the other side. I gave him artistic license. Cameron crown has 7 dots above it, but I don't think Tom can do that for any copyright infringement.

In all honesty, Cameron has done them with 3, 5, and 7 dot configurations. I don't know if it is a trademark infringement, but don't understand why this is what he chose to stamp.
Love the look of the work and am a HUGE Tom Slighter fan. Great to see his work becoming more and more shown.

Learn something new everyday. I'm fine with the crown though. He is sending it out to get the head finished by BOS since I wanted a different one that what he provided. Then he will finish off the paint fill and add an FST black nickel shaft. I will base my grip selection based upon what colors he uses for the fill.

I should have sent my to Tom Before hand for stamping! I never thought of having him do the stamping and then have BOS do the refinishing (they are redoing it now, but couldn't do the stamping I wanted).

You think Tom could stamp it after it is refinished? I would assume.

a trademark is an identifier of the source of goods in trade. so...stamping a real cameron putter with a cameron trademark can't be infringing.

so stamping circle t trademarks on real cameron putters is ok?

sounds like a great way to make some extra money. buy some otr putters, hand stamp them with cameron trademarks and sell them on ebay

from a trademark perspective, yes.

however, if YOU intentionally mark something in the hopes of passing it off as something it's not for profit, that is fraud.

Little update...Tom wasnt able to get in touch with BOS so he is working on the finish with someone whom he works closely with. I can't wait to see this thing

I agree it is easy to tell this is a customized putter and besides what is a real tour Cameron putter these days? A putter with "tour" only stamps or a "tour" only finish or a Cameron that is used by a player on the tour? Just depends on your definition I guess. How about these two that sold on the M&G site? Both were certainly never played on tour but they come with Circle T tour covers and are "special"

Is the neck stainless? Sorry to revive this thread but Im making a custom putter with a stainless neck and carbon steel head and Im wondering if it is ok to do so?
