Just happened to pick up a new MP630 with Fubuki 64 X-Flex....Hit it about 2 hours ago and wow!!!! Never hit a Mizuno driver before and from all that I heard, they were not good?

Anyone else have this club??? I honestly can't believe it even worked for me!!!! 116-122mph SS and very fast hard transition and the Fubuki just responded so well

Honestly, IN SHOCK!!!:shok::shok::shok:

A friend of mine had one in X flex which is too stiff for me, but I tried it out and loved the feel. I bought one last summer for about $90 in stiff and it's been the best driver I've ever owned. Since then I've tried Adams 9032, Superfast, G15, G20 and nothing can keep up with it. Some of my buddies have tried the 630 and they don't like it, but for me it's the best driver out there. Probably 10-15yds long that the others and much more accurate. Not sure if it's the head or the stock Fubuki shaft, but it works. One of my friends who's an equipment freak is always telling me to get the shaft tipped, but I don't want to mess with it.

Used it for about year plus and it has some wonderful aspects to it. It is one of the loveliest pear shaped heads I have ever seen. Just gorgeous black against the white Fubuki shaft. The sound it makes is koosh and the feel is very responsive. I swear there are days I can feel the ball compress off the face. The moveable weights do help on the FT version to reduce slice side spin - to a degree. Not a big GI club really, as you need to know how to hit the ball correctly for this driver, but the weights do help with shot shaping.
Pretty neutral at address, it has a really crisp line with no real offset to bug pro types.
It's the closest I have come to persimmon feel in a metal wood since the days of those Bubble Burner shafts...

oh, it does go along ways when you hit it one the screws...recommended for better ball drivers.

I'm surprised as well that there isn't more talk about these drivers, especially since their irons get so much love. I picked up a used MP-630 FastTrack with an Oban Devotion about a month ago at my local shop and am really impressed. I upgraded from a 975d, (I haven't played much over the last DECADE, there was never any reason to get new equipment) and tried an R11, i20, G20, a few Callaways, and I hit the 630 more consistently than any other, plus being used, it was much less expensive.

Prior to about 2008, yeah, their drivers sucked. Afterward, however, Mizuno started making legit players drivers that were low launch and very low spin. Easy to work as well, but you really had to have your swing in order to make best use.

My Mp-600/Whiteboard 73x combo forced me to put a spinny ball in play just to keep tee shots in the air. The spin was almost non-existent, and shots were knuckling and dropping out of the sky. With a nice urethane, you get a bomber!

It is a great driver - I picked one up on the cheap last month to try it. It is deadly accurate and was longer than my FT-9 Tour. But the 9064LS kicked it out of my bag. I still cannot believe how far I hit this monster.

So yes, the Mizzy MP 630 is long. But in my experience the Adams is longer.

Interesting thing is, when I blew the grip off to put my leather on last night, the shaft said made in Japan? Is this a real Fubuki and not a made for???

Not real, but a beefed up made-for that Mizuno supposedly had designed for lower spin. "Lower" being relative to other stock shafts, I suppose.

It is a fine shaft, just different from the parent model. I had that shaft in a pair of Mp Titaniums. I think they said "Mizuno" somewhere on the shaft if you want to check to be sure.

 • 2 months later...

The MP630 (non fast track) is a monster... I have gamed it for over a year and there is no way it is going anywhere. From my understanding the stock Fubuki is a made for with a stiffer tip than the stock model. I pulled the shaft and dropped in a X-Flex Rombax 6z08 and it is the lowest spinning driver I have hit to date. I get run-out like I have never seen. I love the open face and ability to work the ball both ways. If you are a high spin player this is the driver for you. Works great off the deck as well!

Overall, very underrated driver.

Sorry for rehashing this thread but wanted to give another positive review for this club. I've been looking for a new driver for about 8 months. My pro only sells Titleist, Ping, Taylormade, Adams, and Nike and everything he had I didn't care for. My heart was set on a Cobra, a brand Dick's and my local golf store carry but I couldn't hit one on a trackman and being honest with myself I wasn't in love with the shape of the zl encore. Stopped at a golf store on a whim while away from home and picked up an MP 630 FT and immediately loved the shape. I ask to have it taped up and take it back to the simulator. All my first swings fade out, but have good distance for me, 255-260. But I'm generally a high draw hitting driver of the ball and the flight is making me feel like a hacker in front of the rep after I told him I play a draw. So I take another swing with a more full follow through and BAM, 275 down the pipe. I've always had to worry about a huge draw when I try and hit a big one so I could never let go and rip driver. I start ripping this thing and I'm hitting straight to 5-10 yard draws with huge distance for me. Without researching it on here or elsewhere on the Internet, or being worried about whether the shaft fit me right, I bought this driver stock off the rack. Took it out last night for 9 holes and on 4 of the 6 driver holes I was in a spot I've never been before. Love this driver!

Quick analysis: I've been playing a TM Superquad for years. I like the classic shape and have never felt comfortable with the newer drivers that all look like the have a "point" at the back. I'm a high spin driver that had a lot of drives that ballooned with my stock stiff TM. Any driver I tried with an x shaft felt dead in my hands. Couldn't load them I guess. The MP 630 has the fubuki in it and ive read it's a bit stiffer than other stock stiff shafts. That in combination with the classic and pleasing to my eye head shape has me hitting bombs. I've gained 30 to 40 yards with this driver. I realize I'm putting a different swing on it than previous drivers, it's not like the club itself is 30-40 longer. Guess that shows the importance of something that fits your swing. Anyway, highly recommend this stick to anyone with a similar backstory to mine.

As the other poster mentioned, I was able to really let the MP 650 release and it wouldn't go left on me. I actually play a straight to sometimes slight fade currently, but only because I feel as though I somewhat hold back the release with the driver. I tend to hit hooks if I really let it go. But this is obviously not great, and I've found I've sometimes been hitting some nasty blocks because of it.

Well anyway, with this thing no matter how much I let it release it would just go dead straight on the simulator....maybe a tiny draw.....but EVERY other driver in golfsmith I was hitting 25 yards+ left of this with this same swing. I almost bought it on the spot, but I never pay $300 for a driver.

I had a 630 which I felt was a top-notch driver, but recently picked up a 650 8.5 with 75g Orochi and not only did it trump the 630 by miles, but it also knocked my 910D3 8.5 and Yonex Ezone 380 9.0 out of the bag, and I love both of those. The 650 simply is the best metal driver I've ever had, hands down...
