early morning golf

Recommended Posts

Playing at 7:15 tomorrow morning, bummed I couldn't get the 6:45 tee time I usually want. I have to be at work at 12:30pm every day so it's nice to be able to get around in 3 hours and still have an hour to eat and relax before I have to go in to work.

My Sat league and Sunday match are both first off, both usually require a 1hr drive and it's very peaceful knowing its my time and not driving to another call for work. I will intentionally arrive early which means quite often that I'm the first car in the lot, I enjoy a cup of coffee and listen to music while the sun comes up, very good times indeed...BB

I think kids (and maybe old age based on my course) are an over-riding factor to early golf.

Last month I was headed to the course in the early AM and watched a full moon set on one side of the valley. When I got to the course I watched the sun rise from the other. Hate getting up early but love mornings. :)

I think you are incorrect. I do not have kids. I enjoy the serenity of the early morning rounds and seeing the sunrise.

I think having kids is the reason why most people's internal clocks START at sunrise now. I did a stint in the military after highschool and just became accustomed to 4:30 mornings. Now as a civilian working a 9-5, it's a little tougher to get up at 4:30. but I do enjoy being alone in my thoughts and without anybody ahead or behind me.

Early bird here, too. My favorite time to play, plus I hate waking up, and waiting around to play in the afternoon. Conditions are better in the morning, less people "forgetting" to repair ball marks etc.

Teeing off a half hour later today made my round an hour longer. Gimme back my earlier tee time!

Got a 7AM tee time on Sunday providing the storms move out of my area. I can only hope right... I'm lucky as my kids are five and nine and love golf. My son is taking lessons (Will soon surpass me) and my daughter just loves hanging out with me. I like playing early though, it kind of changes my outlook on the day. I guess I'm wierd...

Here in Alabama, pretty much the earliest you will ever tee off is 7am. Just because of when the sun comes up, that is as early as you can get maintenance guys on the course and then open. I did tee off at 5:45am for a charity golf marathon, but that is the only time.

When I work overnight, I like to go straight to the course after getting off at 6:30, play 18 on the par 3 course, and be home by 8:15. That's real golf.

i hate waking up early but this year in order to start playing more, i started playing the first avaliable tee time and i love it. no one else around and i get done in 3 hours and still make it to work by 9am. the first few holes are a little tough but its a small price to play.

the only downfall is that when i play on the weekends, i hate it cause it takes me 4-5 hours.

so yes, i hate waking up early but love being the first out

Here in Montana being the first one on the course means not slipping on the ice from the sprinklers on the greens, talk about fast greens,.
I like being the first guy on and putt the greens just after they are mowed in the morning. On the weekends my partner and I usually have to wait for the greenskeepers to finish mowing the first green before we hit our approach shot. though my daughter is grown I find the wife doesn't mind how many rounds I play a week if I get home early enough to work on the honey-do list.

I'm an early bird, too. Always have been, even as a kid. Being married with two young children, my favorite part about being out that early is the solitude, and the quiet...

After playing my last w rounds in the afternoon, I'd like to add that the pace of play is much better :)

Having two kids of my own, I also prefer earlier tee times. Out of the house well before sunrise, back home as the family is putting away breakfast dishes...10-11ish as mine likes to sleep in on weekends. And as a public course golfer, the earlier you get out the better chance you have of avoiding "slow play."
