Courses near Destin, FL to play?!?

I'm going to Destin, FL in two days and I am wondering what courses would be worth going out and moving the rock around on. any suggestions tips or direction is appreciated greatly!

Depends where you are staying. If in Destin, I've played Planation, Regatta Bay, and Emerald Bay. Of those, I like Plantation the most.

If you're staying closer to Sea Side (we usually stay in Santa Rosa Beach), try Santa Rosa Golf Club. I like it about the same as the others, particularly without the drive. Also seems less crowded and if I recall correctly, cheaper.

Camp Creek is alot of fun, but it's private.

I've heard good things about the San Destin courses, but haven't played them.

Played Regatta Bay and Camp Creek last week. Both were fantastic and in great shape.

I kind of got semi-scammed at Regatta Bay, though maybe it was my own fault. On one of the Par-3's they had a table with a lady from thier WGA trying to raise money. You could "bet" any amount you wanted and if you hit the green you got double that amount back in shop credit. I asked if it included equipment and she said it did.

I had seen a club (I think it was a putter) that I liked before I teed off, so I laid down $150, hit the green, and looked forward to spending the $300 credit on the putter.

Of course, after the round they said it only counted towards soft goods. Wouldn't even let me buy balls or count the credit towards future green fees. Ended up with a bunch of shirts and hats that I never wore because of the experience. Of course, while we go back to Destin almost every year, haven't been back to that course.

Camp creek was not private last year and is a great layout. Kelly plantation in destin is a good course.

Played Camp Creek last year and liked it, though it was hard. Any opinions on Sharks Tooth?

Camp Creek and Shark's Tooth are both FANTASTIC. Those are the two I always play. Money greens and super layouts

Santa Rosa and Regatta and Kelly are all 5 out of 10's

Have heard tons of good things here about Camp Creek. I played [url="http://www.theworldofdeej.com/2012/06/baytowne-golf-club-sandestin-resort.html"]Baytowne at Sandestin[/url] a few weeks ago. Worth it if you play at the reduced after 2pm rates, maybe not in the morning...

All of the Sandestin courses are fun. The Links is the original course at the resort, and still my favorite layout. It isn't as sexy as Burnt Pine, Raven, Kelly, etc., but it has its own charm.

#9 and the stretch of #13-#16 are worth the price of admission.

Aside from Sandestin, don't miss Kelly Plantation.

If you are on a budget, I will second the Santa Rosa Golf Club. There is only one hole with Gulf views, but the layout is fun, and the greens are nice. When I last played there you could still walk. Not sure about that now.

Camp Creek is no longer private and is a treat. Nothing but golf course and nature.
Not sure if Sharks Tooth is still private though. 3 years ago, they wouldn't even let us past the gate.

Let us know how it goes. I'll be in Sea Grove in August and look to get a lot of rounds in.
