Just got mine back from UST-M yesterday. 40*, windy, crappy so only 8 holes, not enough to post accurate performance feedback. I can say, I have a gut feeling these are the real deal. It only takes a couple strikes to know these "feel" great. All bundled up and restricted, so just trying to hit knockdowns. Zero ballooning, same flight as KBS tour S for me.

I can however give some props to Bobby E. From my first phone call inquiring about the Recoil Protos, to receipt of finished install, great guy to work with. I do not have current trackman data on swing speed, launch, etc. so B.E. was very patient while I described, what I was currently playing, have played, what I liked and disliked about each, why, and what I was hoping to achieve with the Recoils. We agreed on the 110 F4 softstepped, and 125 F4 9 iron shafts in the wedges. I have every confidence if these require tweaking Bobby will do whatever it takes until we get it right. Not that I'm anticipating anything drastic, but when you drop the jack necessary to install 4 thru PW and 50*, 54*, 58* there needs to be a comfort level.

The workmanship on the install is superb. No excess glue, ferrules fit perfectly, Bobby weight sorted the shafts.

Will post performance feedback after 4 rounds this weekend.

Nice OW, I have a similar set up in my irons and wedges. I am still in healing mode from elbow surgery but have had a few swings prior and they are really nice.

1T, hope the healing is going well. Four rounds with the Recoil's, love em! The "feel" is fantastic! Hard to describe feel, for me, they feel solid and smooth at the same time. Performance wise, they do everything a quality steel shaft does. Hit it high, knock it down, cut, draw, this shaft performs. Have not noticed a yardage increase yet, but a distance increase was not a top priority for me. I miss low on the face and these seem to carry out a few yds farther vs steel on this type of miss.

Putting the 110's in 4 thru PW and 125's 9 iron shaft in the 50* 54* 58* is money. Liking the feel of heftier wedges without the added stiffness.

Had to cancel the driver fitting you arranged, work issues. Sorry.

First impressions of my Recoils (F4 110's on Titleist AP2's). I have only been able to hit the irons twice this year - last Saturday a 1/2 hour range session, and my first 18 holes of the year today. The delay was due to my elbow - I had surgery just three weeks ago. It went very well and I was given the okay to start to hit balls again. No tendon or ligament repair - just grinded a couple bone spurs and removed some extra debris.

I am thrilled with the shafts. I have always been a rather low-ball hitter. The trajectory is perfect. This is really appreciated on the mid and long irons. I hit three of four par 5's today in two from 210 to 190 out. High, straight and soft - a very nice combination. Another surprising aspect is that draws and cuts seem to be minimized. They just fly straight. I am hopefully going to demo the Titleist 712U utility iron next week. The Recoil would be a perfect addition to this club.

BTW - I have not played in almost 6 months due to the elbow. Shot 69 today with a double on 18 - hit a driver in the water and missed a 4 foot putt on a recently plugged green. (Icing the elbow and easting Advil as I write this).

I have the 110's F4 in some Yonex Ezone CB heads. First impressions are mixed. They are stable and they look great! I'm concerned about how they feel though. Having been used to PX shafts, these are on a different level. They feel a lot boardy than what I'm used to with PX shafts. They feel similar to s400 on my first round with them. I wasnt getting any difference in height with mine and I am a low ball hitter as well, which is weird cause I was fitted in these to get a little bit more height in them. It didnt help that I was off that day in irons. I'm going to give them a good 12-15 rounds before I can make some judgments on whether they will stay in my irons or not. Part of me thinks I should have went lighter and possibly even soft-stepped but I'll wait on jumping with that conclusion. I may even change where I put the ball and put it further back in my stance.

I switched to the recoils about 6 weeks ago, and won my first state event yesterday! Hit it inside 6 feet on the 32nd, 33rd, and 34th holes of the tournament to make birdie on each, all using Recoil shafted irons.

These are so much more forgiving on mis-hits than anything else I have ever tried. Nice to have that extra level of forgiveness under pressure.

Played another round today. Much better results when I changed the ball location in my setup. Had to put it about 2 balls back of center. Much better contact. Still extremely stable and starting to get a feel for the load of these irons. Shot of the day was 167 yard approach and knocking it to a foot for an easy tap in bird. Will report more when I get more rounds.

My driver SS is 105-110... Hopefully getting more as the summer goes along.

I currently play s300s hard stepped once, 1/2" long.

Am i correct in assuming the 125s in F4 flex, maybe tipped 1/2" would be up my alley?

Is the tour line (not proto) still due out this month?
[/quote]

Just wanted to clear a few things up regarding the Tour version of the recoils as I have had numerous pms about this specific model. Unfortunately it seems as if there has been some misinformation regarding the Tour Recoils being available through Tour SPX dealers. The tour version will only be available as upgrades through manufacturers as that is what they have been designed for specifically. The tour is actually a very similar profile compared to the prototype series except it has more torque and launches slightly higher and spins more than the prototype. The tour name is actuallly going to be dropped as it has been a little confusing. Feel free to PM me if anyone has further questions. Thanks

Is this "tour" the same version that Ping shows on their custom shaft website? Thanks

It's my understanding the "tour" now is what UST calls the "Recoil Prototype", the ones UST provides to OEM's is very similar but not exactly the same. A touch softer as per the post mentioned in the above link.
