Does anyone know the difference between the "prototype" Recoils, which go for about $100 a piece (and seem to be on the heavier end of the spectrum), versus the Recoils that sell for about $45 a piece are a a bit lighter?
I believe the main difference is the Protos are stiffer in the tip and are hand made to tighter tolerances
Thanks Scott. :-)
Any time!

For the record, I am currently testing a set of recoils...after I get the setup right, they will be in the bag!

More than anything, it is the stability on mishits.

You know the feeling, you strike the ball and you look at expecting to se the ball moving right or left. But with the recoil, I am consistently surprised at the ballflight. I'll be playing 5 rounds in Vegas next week, so by the end of the week I'll be able to elaborate further...

I worked with Bobby from UST over the Winter. Installed a set of the Prototype F4 110g in my AP2's and 125's in the wedges. Unfortunately, I am having elbow surgery Monday and can barely swing a club. I was able to hit a few shots. Very nice, high ball flight - no ballooning. Slightly longer than my Project X's. Left to right dispersion was very tight. Very impressed.

My R'Bladz tours are on their way to Bobby E. as I type this. KBS tour stiff softstepped are getting pulled and Recoil Proto 110 F4 softstepped going in. 125's going in the Scor wedges. Excited and worried at the same time, money well spent? Or an expensive mistake. Made 3 swings with a buddys 110 F4 straight in, Epon CB, loved the feel and the flight was comparable to current KBS. Hoping for, less wear and tear on this 59 year old body, less fatigue during a round, if I gain 1 or 2 mph in swing speed, great, but not a priority. Bobby E. is a professional at his job and I'm reasonably secure these will deliver. Still, a smidgen of doubt, due to the 3 year shaft journey.

1st ever visit to a trackman fitter put me in AP2's with made for 100T shafts. Great feel but balloned like crazy if mother nature was even breathing hard, let alone any wind. Switched to KBS Tours straight in, dispersion and flight acceptable, feel and distance lacking. Next up, TM MC with S300 softstepped. Better feel, better distance, comparable dispersion and flight. Happy until TM staffer buddy convinced me I needed the RBladz. Made the mistake of going back to KBS. No prob with performance, just don't get the same feel as the S300.

Hope I get it right this time.

what flex were you playing in the C-Taper before you made the switch? How does the 125 F4 feel compared to the flex you were playing in the C-Taper? Thanks!

I love this shaft. VERY excited to play with it so far this season. Very soft and the 110's are a touch lighter feeling than my s300's and flight is great. Long irons are higher and the short irons are same as s300 to me. I am able to flight them as I want. Knock down against the wind no issues. Last week I played twice and both days it was blowing like crazy. Great rounds.

Softer, touch longer and lighter.

Just got mine back from UST-M yesterday. 40*, windy, crappy so only 8 holes, not enough to post accurate performance feedback. I can say, I have a gut feeling these are the real deal. It only takes a couple strikes to know these "feel" great. All bundled up and restricted, so just trying to hit knockdowns. Zero ballooning, same flight as KBS tour S for me.

I can however give some props to Bobby E. From my first phone call inquiring about the Recoil Protos, to receipt of finished install, great guy to work with. I do not have current trackman data on swing speed, launch, etc. so B.E. was very patient while I described, what I was currently playing, have played, what I liked and disliked about each, why, and what I was hoping to achieve with the Recoils. We agreed on the 110 F4 softstepped, and 125 F4 9 iron shafts in the wedges. I have every confidence if these require tweaking Bobby will do whatever it takes until we get it right. Not that I'm anticipating anything drastic, but when you drop the jack necessary to install 4 thru PW and 50*, 54*, 58* there needs to be a comfort level.

The workmanship on the install is superb. No excess glue, ferrules fit perfectly, Bobby weight sorted the shafts.

Will post performance feedback after 4 rounds this weekend.
