The Pro1M has a higher magnification (7x) compared to the GX-3i (6x).

The Pro1M is also bigger, obviously, but probably easier to hold steady.

I prefer the Pinseeker modes that the Bushnell's have because they'll automatically lock on to the nearest object.

Leupold has Pin Hunter which is essentially the same thing (lasers nearest object) but it doesn't "lock on" meaning it doesn't leave that distance up for you to see. It continues to scan if you're a bit shaky.

With that being said, I do prefer the GX-3i because of how compact it is.

I got the 1m and took it out today and came away very impressed. Even with snow in the distance the 1m locked on immediately and kicked out the distance without delay. Couldn't be more impressed. Feels great in the hands, not as bulky as the 1600 but certainly enough bulk to keep the hands steady

I really liked the size of the 3Xi but a buddy dropped his last yr and never worked the same from there on, think I will take a chance on the Bushnell Pro 1M as it feels good in my hand while using it and it locks on a flag without prisms much faster than the leupold does, can always sell it if I don't like it.. :D

And be sure to drop it, if only to compare to the GX3i. That's when you'll experience a new world: Customer Service.

not true... leupolds work the same, and will 'lock on'. except instead of pushing the button and holding down like on bushnells, you push and release. pushing-holding on a leupold is scan mode.

If you have shacky hands I would recommend the Bushnell, if not the Leupold optics and overall quality is second to none...BB

I have told myself, at the very least, a Million times not to exagerate.

I have said in every Leupold thread that the remedy for shaky hands is to rest the RF on the fat part of your thumb then, stick your thumb out and touch any part of your face. If THAT doesn't do it, then, the only two hands that will steady a Bushnell are someone else's.

What I do is press the optics against my sunglasses while holding the rangefinder with my left hand and position one finger from my right hand against the right side of the unit, if you trust this position and relax it becomes very easy to use. I agree however for some folks with shacky hands it's far easier to utilize a GPS...BB

Exactly, you proved my point.

The Bushnell locks onto the nearest target in "scan mode." With the Leupold you have to hit the flag when you push down the button for it to lock on, it doesn't lock on in "scan mode."

If you miss you have to push the button again with the Leupold. With the Bushnell you just hold the button and it locks on even when you're scanning. The only way the Leupold locks on in scan mode is with prisms.

I've used both extensively and I greatly prefer bushnell's pin seeker over Leupolds pin hunter.

bushnells don't 'lock on' in scan mode. if you're in scan mode the pinseeker ain't working.

I've had a 1500 since about 2005 and just got a GX3i... jury is still out, but the differences are going to boil down to personal preferences (thanks for proving that point, btw)

I agree, it's preference. I love the GX-3i. If it had Pin Seeker from the Tour V2 it would be my absolute favorite RF ever. I like the Z6 okay but prefer the size and looks of the GX-3i myself.

I did get the Bushnell scan mode confused. I forgot that it doesn't really scan in Pinseeker mode. I just like being able to hold in the button until you hit the flag and then having the distance stay on the screen even after you let go. I've never taken my V2 out of scan mode.
