One story I heard said that it was the original "Mr. 59", Al Geiberger. He, of course, shot the tour's first-ever sub-60 round en route to winning the 1977 Danny Thomas Memphis Classic (Now known as the Stanford St. Jude Classic).

When asked years ago the PGA Tour said it was a compilation of swings.

 

I call BS but who has time to sit there comparing old film with that action!!

Oh I can think of a few guys over in the swing fitness forum that have more than enough time on their hands to do that. As others have said rumor has it it is Miller or Weiskopf, or someone of that era. While it may be no one in paticular, I heard someone say once it might actually be Jerry Pate.

You really must provide attribution for a "quote" to have any meaning.

 

Anyway, the logo was modeled after me actually. They came over and took a bunch of photos then then turned it into a graphic logo. I kinda think they photoshopped out the gut however.

Sorry did not know I was writing a term paper. I did a quick cut and paste a year and a half ago and threw some quotes on there because I just copied it.
