Nike Sq Driver And 3 Wood Pics

Got to hit it today
Nike rep came by my home course this afternoon and he had his Sasquatch drivers and fairway woods. He let me hit them and 3 wood was brand new and he took the shrinkwrap off so I can hit it. One thing that I can tell you is that even though SQ driver looks huge but it's much easier to hit than Ignite. That SQ 15* really surprised me on how easy it was to use and I hit it very well.

Nice pics!  Are these in your bag now?  :clapping:

BTW what is the yellow part made of?  Is it fibre/plastic or metallic?

Thanks

Doh, I didn't check the material under the yellow paint but it seems to be just a yellow paint on the head.

These clubs belongs to Nike rep that stopped by to show his wares and take the orders. They have some very nice shoes coming.

Driver won't be in my bag unless it's 8.5* with a different shaft, only when I start to hit my current driver lousy. As for 3 wood, I might look into it at a later date. Does sets up nicely and does not look as large at SQ driver. Driver looks like a pancake on a stick.

No mention or showing of the "Tour" version?  I believe it's smaller front-back with a deeper face....

Rep did say something about tour SQ driver, will come out after 1st of 2006. He did not have any tour SQ driver with him.

BR, What shaft is stock in those things?  I don't like the flat pancake look at all myself...but you could see yourself playing it??  I don't mind the sole as much as the view from address actually.

I did not ask what shafts are being used for their stock shafts but they felt ok for stock shafts. Probably somewhere in 65gr range.

As for the driver, I might wait to see what tour SQ driver will look like but this SQ driver does look larger visually than many of other 460 drivers.

I probably will look into getting a SQ 13* at a later date, the SQ 15* were very surprising on how easy it was to hit. I did find this SQ driver very forgiving with slightly higher drives than I preferred due to redestribution of the weighting to rear of the head and the loft.

This will be a good driver for trajectory challenged golfers, IMO.

Hi Bill, I hope Aztek sales have picked up!

Great pics and report. Frankly, I must have had my head in the sand trap, didn't know there was a 3-wood SQ, but it sure looks nice. Being a bit of a traditionalist, I've not yet warmed to the Nike products, but these two may finally tempt me. Thanks for the info!

Bill, Did you get a look or hear anything about the new tour version?

36388[/snapback]

Rep said there are no tour version available yet for them to show at this time. He said they will be released for retail after 1st of 2006. I forgot exactly what are the differences between SQ and tour SQ but I believe it's the face angle, difference COG and I believe he said deeper face. I'll double check with my club pro to verify what the rep had told him.

I'm actually not liking the FW.. the face is fugly and the top line looks flat as a pancake... the driver is slightly better looking.

There's one more picture that I thought I had uploaded. The face angle isn't what it looks in the picture because I was holding the club in my left hand while taking those pics. I thought SQ 15* has more square face than the driver does.

I heard that Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana will be the stock shafts for the SQ. TGW is taking preorders for it with this configuration, and getting a shaft of Mitsubishi's quality makes me want to try out this driver! :clapping:

If the SQ 3-wood sets up as square as the T-60 3-wood, I'll at least try it out with no plans to change because the Ignite T-60 3-wood just flat out performs for me.

I still can't find a better driver than my Ignite, but I'll demo the "Tour" SQ driver, since there will be a LH version, the Diamana made for Nike shaft is only 63ish grams though, so I'll probably have to buy one and throw a shaft in to demo, as that is too light for me.

Our rep. came by today with the SQ stuff. The driver is a very unfortunate shape even with the cosmetic attempts to hide it's goofy shape. Black where they want you to see a good shaped driver but then silver ooozing out the back to make up the almost plate like look. I didn't find the driver to be any better than anything out there today, but I think it's big claim to fame is to try and get the MOI closer to the new limit (less head twist on off center hits). Certainly there would be no other reason to create such an unattractive shape. This shape makes the FT-3s look absolutely traditional. As with anything--no matter how unappealing it is to look at people will go with it if it performs. This driver didn't deliver in that vein (My 460 Ignite with the Diamana shaft in it flew by this driver distance wise) and the fairway was average. The new slingshots are very long heel to toe with an extremely wide sole---trying to surpass the old G2 HL I guess for sole width. Funny that the company with the argueably the world's best player is putting out strange looking game improvement stuff "for the rest of the world". :clapping:

I got a peek at the SQ driver and 3 wood today. I also got to see the new slingshots. I have to say that the driver is HUGE!!!!!!!!!! Not only is it big, it is by far the ugliest golf club I have ever seen. But if it hits well who cares. The 3 wood wasn't bad looking at all, slightly larger looking than the T60. The slingshot iron I saw was also extemely big, it looked like a hybrid. The topline is even bigger than the older version. But once again if these clubs play well I would have no problem getting used to the way they look.

Listening to Tom Sites being interviewed about the SQ driver by Adam Barr tonight, it struck me how large these things must be for Tom to repeatedly say that they had hundreds of prototypes to show to determine which best camouflaged the size. They ended up with the black color (to make it appear smaller) surrounded by silver. Though it would be an awful combination, I should think that black surrounded by grass green would be even better at camouflaging.
