Darren, Scott Piercy's caddy let me shoot the yardage boon and green contour book for Glen Abbey. He hasn't made any notes in it yet but will mark it up during the pro-am tomorrow

I realized they were detailed, but perhaps not that much.

On the 6th picture down, it seems to be approach shots to the green yardage. To the left of the yardage on a couple numbers, there's a -1 or +0. What does that denote?

That's the distance when slope is taken into account. An elevated par 3 tee might see -8 or something next to the yardage.

thanks for sharing Greg! the detailed slope readings on the 18 greens seen on the final 18 pics...are those taken with breakmaster? if so, how many feet apart for each reading?

Thanks for the pics Greg. The detail in their books always amaze me. I make yardage books for my son to use in his tournaments . The detail in these make mine look like a kindergarten book compared to a law school book. Haha...

They probably used some land surveying device to map the greens.

These are amazing... I wonder, if they knew how to read them, if something like this would help the above average golfers. I'm not too sure that it would? Just wanted to throw it out there and see what others tought.

I'd have to guess not!... The information is only good to those who have the game to make something of the numbers. If you're like me, you never know if your 6 iron is going 60 yards, or 160!...lol...

I know what some of the numbers mean, but not all... I've searched around but can't find a guide. Anyone have
a source to explain how to read a yardage book with this much detail?

[/quote] On some of the holes, there are yardage numbers followed by an 'L' or and 'R'... I'm assuming left and right, but how are they
different from the other yardages?

I bet it would help everybody with putting. Having that green slope detail would be amazing, especially when the slopes and breaks are subtle. I know these aren't a substitute for reading a putt, but they must add a bunch of confidence to your reads.

i caddied a bit on tour in the mid 90's and saw lots of yardage books - things have come a long way in terms of detail...

In those cases there are two to-the-front-of-green marks (shaped greens) and the yardages to the one "nearest" and the second further on X yards (L or R depending on the hole).

The detail on the greens is so amazing. I wonder if this would help me play better or much worse.
