I would highly recommend Riverdale Dunes. The problem is that it's pretty much as far away from Arrowhead as possible and still considered in the Denver area.

I've also heard CommonGround is a good course.

Two other courses to consider would be Murphy Creek (site of the 2008 Mid Amateur) and Saddle Rock.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Bear Dance is on the must play list, but probably next year. Saddle Rock would work as we could catch 470 to head home and Riverdale Dunes would actually work because we could head north from there also.

I probably should have been clearer im my post, I just don't want to show up there and find out the greens are bad.

Buddy and I are looking at a 36 hole day next Thursday. We know we want to play Aarowhead for one course and were wondering the conditions of their greens.

Also any recommendations for a second course, probably further north northeast so we can catch it on the way home.

Did you get rained out? Were you able to get out of Colorado?

Sorry Pseudo, its this Thursday we're thinking of playing. I thought I'd call the course in the morning and see if they are OK. I don't know if that area had any problems or not. I think that far south was OK, but not certainl

Green valley is the best course in the Northeast Denver area. Home of all the Colorado Opens. Better than Murphy and Saddle rock.

Everywhere has some damage at this point.

Did most of them have flood damage or just from excessive rain.

We were spared the full force of the damage down south (just a lot of rain). Arrowhead should be fine by Thursday (absolutely gorgeous weather forecasted for the rest of this week), but definitely give them a call. CommonGround is flooded and is closed until further notice. My golf league had to cancel their Saturday/Sunday tournament there and reschedule for Green Valley Ranch (which never closed). As far as I know, courses in the eastern suburbs (from the airport south) and southern suburbs are all open.

Edited to add: Oops. My neighbor just told me Green Valley Ranch was shutdown on Sunday due to the storms on Saturday.

I would also imagine that the Colorado Golf Association website (http://www.cogolf.org) would have a listing of courses that are closed, but I can't access the website for some odd reason.

Buddy played it over the weekend. They aerated about two weeks ago, but the course was still in great shape.

We played it today and it was in excellent condition. Really beautiful setting with some pretty spectacular holes. Really enjoyed it, did have a Marshall come up to his and tell his there were two holes open in front of us, this was on the fifth hole and we had just played through a five some so of course there were holes open. Minor thing but a bit irritating. At $110 a round though it's not one I would play frequently, might be a once ever summer or two. There are just too many good options out there for less money, and wow, I didn't realize how far south it was. We we coming from I70 and Airport Blvd, pretty healthy trip in traffic.

Oh, and when I called yesterday to ask about conditions and aeration, she told me they punch in October. They didn't look like they had been recently, but there was a little sand, so they must have recovered very quickly.

Glad you played yesterday instead of today. I can barely see outside due to the fog!

I'll agree that $110 ($169 during the summer) makes it way overpriced (although the price does include food, non-alcoholic beverages, cart, and range balls).

GolfNow often has good deals--my buddy paid $43.

I'd play it a lot at $43. Didn't know anything about range balls, food, or beverages being included. They didn't mention anything about it either. $110.00 was about all I could find on Golfnow so I just booked directly.

Don't want to make it sound all negative. It really is a nice course in a beautiful setting. I would play it again, but just not too often at the higher price. It is good we went yesteday, pouring rain now in the Nebraska panhandle too.

It's been about two years I've played it. It was an $80 scramble tournament, and they were touting Arrowhead as an all-inclusive golf experience. Perhaps they changed their business model (again).

Yes, for the scenery, it's definitely one of the best in town. For a challenge, though, there are many other courses I'd much rather play--even for $43.
