The last tournament that I won. I listened to "The Noose" by A Perfect Circle from the Thirteen Step album on the way. I remember it so clearly. I was thinking this a really depressing song to listen to on the way to a golf tournament. And I won the 27 hole event by one shot with total score of 106 or -2 under par. So go figure. I normally listen to relaxing music like Sarah Mclachlan or Belle and Sebastian. And I do pay close attention to the music I listen to on the way to a tournament. I think the rhythm of the music can feed into the rhythm of the swing during the round.

For hockey I have my team listen to Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith right before we go out every game. It might be superstition (we've done it every game for the past 5 years) but it never gets old. Some people find it weird because that song is like 30 years older than all of us haha

I don't like having music on the range because a lot of the time you get tangled up with the cords. Also, on the range I am working on fundamentals and I don't want my voice and music in my head at the same time because I will pay more attention to the music than what I need to be working on. However, when I'm chipping or putting, it's nice to have some soothing music. I just don't like having metal in my ears. Golf is meant to be relaxing and I find when listening to rap or metal, I get tense. This year, while I'm practising it will be mainly Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Young, and Pink Floyd.

I don't know if I really have a certain song that gets me pumped before a round. I'll just listen to whatever is good on the radio at the moment. But I know if I'm snowboarding with my ipod and have disturbed playing that gets me really pumped.
