1 day getaway ideas

Looking for ideas of a nice course/area to visit over the next couple months. We have access to a private plane, want somewhere we can fly in, be pretty close to the course, get picked up, play, have a nice dinner, fly home that night.

 

Coming from Indy, so needs to somewhere close enough we can get there in reasonable time...so southeast US. We'd keep eye on weather forecasts, need maybe 3 day notice for plane.

 

So let's hear ideas.

If you can find a weather window I think any of these would be great:

Pinehurst - All kinds of options, from Pine Needles to Tobacco Road to Dormie Club. #2 is a bit more difficult if not staying at the resort because it takes a bit more planning.

Charleston, SC - The Ocean Course on the public side, and if you have some access, you may be able to work out something like Yeamans Hall.

Hilton Head, SC - Another fine Dye course at Harbour Town.

Streamsong, FL - This may be on the outside of your range and you would have to choose the Red or the Blue, but it is high on my list.

I've played ocean course many times. Pinehurst and Hilton head were discussed. How's winter weather in Pinehurst.

Weather is hit and miss... could be 60*, could be 20*. The later you wait, the better your chances for good weather. Presidents Day weekend is usually safe.

Monterey has an airport and is worth an earlier departure. 74 degrees here today, mid December. Same will go for Jan, Feb, March.

Wake up early. Spend 4 extra hours on that private jet. Tell your kids and grandkids all about it into the indefinite future. Why go half way??

Took this just a few hours ago. Boogied the par 5 with just a 51* GW (ladies tees LOL) Only took out one club and my iPhone

I would definitely say Monterey. Airport is small and you can be at Pebble within 20 minutes.

Haha....would love Monterrey, but that's not in the geographical possibility.

What are your flight parameters? This might be out of your flight window.....but,

Wolf Creek, Mesquite Nevada. The airport is 2.3 miles from the first tee.

Try Kiva Dunes in Fort Morgan. It is just a bit west of Gulf Shores out on the peninsula in Fort Morgan. If you want to be closer to an airfield try Rock Creek in Fairhope, AL.
