Harrison Shafts...I don't know anything about them.

I have an add up on the WTB forum for a driver and a guy told me he had a driver that I'm interested in with a Harrison Pro 1.8 Tour 80 shaft in it.

 

I don't know much about Harrison Shafts. I was always led to believe they are inferior but I don't know anything about them. What is your guys experience?

 

Just for info I have typically played Diamana Whiteboard, Fubuki Tour or Oban Devotion. How does the Harrison stack up?

 

Is Harrison even a brand I should consider leaving in my bag?

Back a few years ago, they were a favorite shaft for club makers. A buddy of mine still has one in his driver (an oldie but goody - ZT crown Jewel) and he hammers it. They definitely don't get a lot of pub around here (maybe because you do not see these shafts in OEM drivers).

Harrison make GREAT shafts. I don't know anything about that particular model, but the Harrison Saga is one my favorite all-time shafts. Couples is still using a Harrison in his three wood, I think.

Harrison is top notch, Mugen black prototype is my favorite shaft they offer.

The Saga is great, even the old Professional iron shafts were nice.

The Shotmaker is AMAZING....check the big thread on that one. It really seems to work for me.

It says you have a G20 with an oban devotion. How does that shaft compare to the Harrison shaft you've used.

The Pro 1.8 is a great shaft! It came in 80 and 90gr and in combo flex, R/S and S/X. The 1.8 is for the torque, it is a low launch and spin shaft. I had the 80X in a few heads way back when. The Pro 2.5 Ti was also very good, of the new crop of Harrison the Mugen Proto Blue is fantastic for low/low. The Saga on the other hand to me was an over priced GD YS6 but lots of folks seem to like them. I wish I had a Pro 1.8 80 for a 3w build I have in mind.

Well, it's hard for me to say because I am in a different flex now, but I like the low torque tip in the Saga, it meant pretty tight dispersion. I played it in a r9 head for a while. It launched a little higher than my setup now, but it was an S flex in a different head.

I had a 1.8 Pro in a fairway. Heavy, smooth, stable low/low-mid shaft. Butt-ugly maroon fading into gray, but that's the only thing I didn't like about it.

They seem more of a Component brand anymore. But dont let that discourage you, they are phenominal shafts at a good price. I've played several different models and love them all. Currently I have the Striper H2 in my driver, an Eclipse in a back up driver, the Mugen Black in my fairway, and Sagas in my back up fairways. I have not played their older lines or their irons, but their newer stuff is solid. Great feel and performance.

I work for a company, that distributes the Harrison shafts in Germany. We also carry a couple of other brands like UST, Matrix, Aldila, etc. The Harrison shafts most of the time, run pretty true to stated flex. Most of them feel stable at impact - not harsh, but not really smooth either. The older shaft, you have there is a real low torque, stable shaft, great for FW and special for drivers. Given, that you like shafts like the Devotion, Whiteboard and the like, you should like the performance of the 1.8 Pro. I'm not sure, if you will like the feel, but it should perform for you.

The blue prototype is a Great shaft. I have it in my driver and I really like it. I am looking for a saga to go into a 4 wood, but you do not see any pulls of these around.

I just sniped a 60X Blue Prototype of the bay and threw it in my Cobra Bio Cell+ and BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM! This shaft is frickin amazing! And for $26, brand new, I am over the moon!!!!!!
