I've been watching the course for several years now and I can't wait to finally get to try it out! You guys should set up a GolfWRX preview for some of us guys who have been watching and waiting to tee it up there.

Looks like a foursome. Minarets, nuthin but a hacker,KLeC and me. I am sure each of us will give great reviews of the course!

I'm ready! All they have to do is say when. I wish I had a dollar for everytime I have called to ask when it would be ready or drove by to see it. I could pay for a memebership with that money!

Count be in on a pre opening play for a wrx outing. I'm hoping to get by there after Christmas to check it out and maybe walk the course, if possible.
Okay. We now have 5 players. Can't wait to play this track. I have to drive about 20 miles in any direction to play golf. This course will serve us well here in mid south middle TN.

You got one more. I signed up for email updates. If their memberships are crazy over priced i will have several friends looking to move from our current course. Even if it isn't within my price range it will make my current course less busy...win win.

Would love to get a solid group of low handicaps to play with after work and on the weekends.

If you have Google earth, you can get a really good look at the layout. Course looks basically completed. Clubhouse is built and driving range looks done.

Well if the rain stopped it would be nice. Sadly, now comes the cold.

I joined this forum just for this discussion. I am pleasantly surprised that you all knew about this course. I was fortunate enough to be one of the original designers of this course. I was with vonhage, smelek and baril. I absolutely LOVED this course. It is such an incredible piece of property. Unfortunately when the economy turned and the banks started failing, this is one of the casualties. Then the Nashville flood happened so good night, sleep tight. The company dissolved and I always wanted to see this course go but it took some investment. We were so close, it broken my heart to see it sit.
If you search for “Still water golf course “on You-tube I uploaded some videos there during the construction. You can see blasting some of the rock (for the pond between 10 & 11, grading out the bunker (#13) and others. It was the job of my dreams. Almost got me divorced, but the job was great. When I left all the holes were done, it was just getting grassed. The road for the housing development was rough graded and no concrete was poured. Once it gets open, I will travel there and play it. Check out the videos, It is kind of a “behind the scenes look at what happens.
Thank you all for the updates and I will continue to follow this discussion. Unless they changed the layout, there are going to be monster difficult holes, but you won’t care because the hole is fun.

I would love for some with some golf business knowledge explain how it is cheaper to maintain and not open a finished golf course than it is to open it to play? I am fully aware you have to pay more people and buy/maintain carts but otherwise I can't rap my head around it. The golf pros at my local course played it a couple or so years ago and they liked it.
Thanks for designing this course. Can't wait to play it! I checked out the Youtube videos. Wow! It sure does sit on a nice piece of property and really close to the Arrington Vinyards(owned by Kix Brooks). Just hoping it will open by beginning of Spring. We have been patiently waiting for a very long time....

This course was stuck in litigation. Alot of companies invested in this and then it went bottoms up. I think that is why no one would touch it. I am so excited they took it over and are now going to open it.

Thanks, makes perfect sense!

I'm getting goosebumps. So close to my house. Can't wait to play. Just hope it doesn't go full blown private or I doubt I'll be able to afford it.

I remember watching those YouTube videos a couple years ago. I can't wait to set foot on the course. I too hope it's not strictly private. I'll never get to play it if that's the case.

There is hardly ant decent public golf in Williamson Co. I mean it's basically Forrest Crossing and Kings Creek. It's all private

It seemed that more holes could have been out there. 27 at least. Why?
Because a golf course by itself is not profitable. You very rarley make your money back through green fees and membership dues. The main reason for a golf course is to add value ($$) to the lots around it. We had to maximize golf frontage to make the development worth the cost. A lot (homesite) with golf frontage (backing up to a golf course) is about 20%-30% more in value (meaning price to sell it for) that one with out. There is a ton of space out there but that is a very hilly piece of property. We had to do a ton of earthmoving (which exploded the golf budget) just to get those 18 holes out there. I dont live in Tn nor anywhere close. I have not been out there since 2009. If my memory is right, I think it is hole 5. The par up the hill that is about 580 yards. It is monster (you will not get htere in two) That is about the steepest grade uphill you can have and still make the hole "fair". It is easier to fit holes that play down hill because you have more leway. Example #1, #10, #12 (the really cool par 5 over two lakes) and others. Some holes we had to cut and make a shelf (#9 comes to mind). The hardest part about htat property was find holes that played up hill to fill in the gaps and having homesites that had a view to the golf course.

If you have been out there, you still see a lot of exposed rock. All of that is natural (expect around the huge tree that we saved on #8 par 5.) We wanted to incorporate as much of htat as we could. If we had to move it, it required TNT and a demolition team (as seen on the tube videos). Again $$$ .

I hope this helps explain hte process and why we had only 18.
