Game Golf tracking system (merged)

Anyone got an idea which tags go on which clubs?

I bought it last year, didn't use it much, and got tired with forgetting to tag my putts and bad chips. But they did stay on my clubs all year. This week, I took them off in the rain in my trunk to bring the clubs in to be regripped... , and didn't notice when taking them off what condition they were in... until I went to put them back on. If I had seen them, I would have sharpied them or something. But now, no such luck.

I'm not impressed they lasted only a year being used in my bag.

I'm assuming you have the gray belt clip, not the red one? If you have the red one, I can fix this.

Mine are definitely getting like that as well. I'm surprised and not surprised, I had to assume with the way that they manufactured them that this was going to happen eventually.

At some point I am going to have to break down and mark them with an extra thin sharpie. My question is, what happens when this wears through to wherever the sensor is - maybe that will never happen, I dont know.

I guess only thing is to mark them 1->15 and then tag them. Then check from online which tag is which and map club and number together.

I emailed their support to see what comes of it. IMHO, paying the money for something that wears like it does through normal use in a year where they are unidentifiable after just a year, and expect to pay for new ones, is not conductive to a sound business plan. I mean, even Apple with their planned obsolescence lasts longer than a year. :)

Gamegolf handicap question - how accurate is the handicap that gamegolf gives you?

The reason I ask is because it tells me I am at a 18.5 handicap, but my average score is 95.2. I guess some of my older games could skew my average up higher?

On a side note, I am loving the strokes gained insights! Guess I need to work on my short game and putting to drop tons of strokes to break 90.

I marked mine with a sharpie after the markings wore off, but that didn't last long either. Doesn't really matter as long as you keep track of them when regripping or changing clubs. I think it would take a long time to wear through entirely.

Don't take this the wrong way... I think it's cheap how they do it, but I've had mine a long time and I haven't seen wear like that at all.

They should label the side with a number at least, but I'd have to ask how you have that much friction at the bottom of your bag? Maybe just a cloth liner at the bottom prevents this... and at least it isn't your grips all jacked up.

There is no bottom liner on the bottom of my '15 Sun Mountain C130 cart bag (I usually walk pushing a ClickGear 3.5+). When the clubs go in, they're greeted with a solid thunk of hardness of the base (where if it were just a grip, it would be rubber). And they're all individual full-length dividers... so it wouldn't be as simple as one piece of rubber, but they don't move/slide as much.

I don't force them in, nor do I throw them. They're all worn about the same, so when walking and hitting bumps with the cart, there is some sliding going on.

My belt clip broke when I got into car. Any solutions or shall I try tie straps or duct tape?

Front pocket?

I have not tried yet, as the season is still to come, but I feel it may be a bit too much.

Well, support asked me for my address. That was it.

This afternoon, I got a box in... :)

I will be now etching the back before putting them on. :)

I really cannot ask for anything more. They did right. They're definitely the same makeup, and same type of embossing, so I'm sure they will wear again. But, I will mitigate that right now with an engraver.

Has anyone done a comparison of the original versus the live? I'm not sure I'd get much use out of the live. I feel like my range finder is quicker. But I like the idea of keeping better stats.

I have no use for live. I don't use my phone during a round.

My tags wore as well, but when regripping I just took a piece of paper, wrote down my clubs, put the tags next to the label. It's not that complicated. lol

Also put a superstroke on my putter and to attach the tag I cut off the screw in piece, and used 4 layers of double sided grip tape to affix it. Rock solid.

I just got an email for 40% (ALIVE40) off the Game Golf Live system to make it $179 from the company's website. Seems like a very enticing price and I'm tempted to try it out. My question for anyone who has it is, do you still need to tap it to sync the club? Is the red sensor part small/light enough to keep comfortably in the pocket? I'm not a fan of putting that on my belt.

I've been going back and forth on getting one of these systems or the Garmin S20 watch. I feel like the ultimate system would be a cross between the two so that you can get your distances by glancing at your watch but automatic club tracking for your shots. This sale also makes me wonder if Game Golf is clearing out inventory to make way for something newer (and hopefully better) to come.

I think they may have to raise their game soon. Next month the ShotScope system launches. No tagging required. I've pre-ordered can't wait. And can't wait to offload my gamegolf which has been a major disappointment to me.

Technically ShotScope uses tagging, exactly like Game Golf does. Only difference is that ShotScope tags to a device on your wrist (making tagging an automatic process), instead of tagging to a device sitting at your belt (making tagging a manual process). I wouldn't be surprised to see Game Golf with a wrist device in the future.

Personally what I would like to see was a wrist device which included yardages. Automatic tagging to a device like Garmin S20 would be really nice. I guess it's only a matter of time. Wearing a device only for the purpose of tagging is daft imho, regardless of it sitting at the belt or at the wrist.

Some people have complained that automatic shot recognition is not 100% reliable and find it problematic. Most often it is with putting though.

I probably shouldn't have used Garmin S20 as the example. My point is that tagging to a device which does nothing else, such as the ShotScope wrist device, is an opportunity lost. If I was to wear such a device, I would want it to show yardages, too. Garmin S20, which was my example, uses automatic shot recognition, but if you could tag instead, that tag would eliminate the need for shot recognition. By tagging you have confirmed that you are making a shot.

That is really confusing.

To me the advantage of Shot Scope is that you play golf and the band automatically 'senses' the tags and records swings without tagging. I use a laser for GPS so it doesn't bother me. I think removing 'tagging' is a big step forward and not having to add your club type etc to an automatic shot recognition watch is a plus.

Incase you guessed I pre-ordered Shot Scope.
