I'm not sure what to think yet. I think Rollins is fantastic, he's getting better and better on the mic, and his ringwork is fantastic when they let him do things. It would be too bad to see the belt taken off him now (as he will somewhat get blamed for the lesser ratings during his run), but i think WWE believes in him enough that they will make sure he stays relevant, and will put it back on him in the future. Obviously everyone loses the belt eventually. It's just that he's been getting better and better

Here's the thing, i'm a closet Sheamus fan. I love Sheamus LOL....his new entrance theme is my ring tone. I'm hoping maybe Sting winning the belt of Rollins is a nod to his legacy, and he gets maybe a month to do the champion thing, and then Sheamus brogue kicks his a** and gets to be Champ for a few months. This works on a number of levels, since Sheamus legit gets boo'd he could be an ideal guy to put Roman Reigns over, or Rollins again as a face at Wrestlemania (they could have Rollins win the rumble)

So if Rollins losing the belt works out for Sheamus that's OK by me because i find him hilarious. And if you listen to his Jericho podcast he's a guy who's really, really into the craft.

The New Day is amazing. And people are really giving them that respect....they got flat-out cheered in New York as they trashed the city. People were chanting "new day rocks" LOL

I'm also very curious to see who is going to come out and make "the save" for Reigns and Ambrose. Obviously it's 3 on 2 now with the addition of Braun Stowman to the roster. I was telling my friends i thought this would be a great Samoa Joe spot, but apparently he may be feuding with Finn Balor next. Not sure how true that is. But Joe is 36, he could get called up quick if not....that'd be great i think

Think he is an interesting character, the old Zeus character came to mind when Roman hit him twice and he barely flinched. I have a feeling he wont be around for a very long time...or at least as this character. If he has good mic skills that may be his saving grace. Like Jeff said, Im wondering who will make the save for Reigns and Ambrose. Its now 3 Wyatts against these 2 so someone will have to help out. Im wondering if it will be the Rock. But if Rock comes in and cleans house, does that make the other two look weaker? Im also wondering if Rowan will come back to the family. Could be a good heel stable with these 4.

I really like Cesaro...I could see him and Owens having a great feud if they wished to continue it. Either which way, these two are getting a lot of fan reaction right now. Can see them holding IC and US belts here shortly.

What happens IF Tyson Kidd comes back? Wonder if they will put them back together or let Cesaro keep his momentum going in the singles.

I think you've gotta let Cesaro keep going in singles. He's getting too much fan pop to bog him down in a tag team right now.

And I've got to admit...when they pulled he curtain up on Raw and Sting was standing there I got goosebumps. Sting was my favorite when growing up. As a kid, I almost cried when he came back from the knee injury to beat Flair for the title. It was awesome.

Spoiler Alert for those who missed raw.

After RAW we have set for NOC

Rollins vs Cena for US Title

Rollins vs Sting for World Title

How do you think this plays out?

I think Sting wins so he can have a last title reign. Then he'll probably become a part time guy like the Undertaker. Show up for special matches.

I'm up for grabs on the Cena match. My first thought is Cena wins and it finally brings about the Authority turning on Rollins and starting his feud with HHH. But I can also see Rollins winning.

I think it's time to take the belt off Rollins and let his character get tweaked. He hasn't gotten a single clean win at a PPV since winning it, so there's only so much more they can work with this. Plus its a nod to Sting and his legacy. I think he gets the belt for a month or so before he runs into a brogue kick from sheamus. And then Rollins starts slowly turning face for his HHH feud.

I'd bet they tease some shield stuff too, like Cena did yesterday.

Us belt I have no idea. It would make him weaker to lose twice, but its easier to rework the character if he loses both

I was thinking he loses both, freaks out on HHH, and starts that feud. Maybe HHH comes down to calm him down and tells him stuff like we will get you the belt back and its a gradual push away from each other leading to them fighting at RR maybe WM. But I think this is the beginning of Rollins face turn. Who knows? Maybe Rollins and HHH have a quick bad breakup and Rollins is the 3rd guy for the Shield/Wyatt feud. The Shield was before I got back into watching wrestling but I have heard how good they were together so I wouldnt mind seeing them reunite.

I would like to Sting have a mini run as champ. I think he should keep it til SS maybe the next PPV before Sheamus cashes in. I am not a Sheamus fan so I would hate to see him win it but Im guessing that is where this is going.

So taken from the "walk up" music thread....who has the best entrance in the WWE?

    If we include NXT....I'm going:

    1) Undertaker (it has to be...it's iconic.)

    2) Finn Balor (he's new, but his entrance is KILLER)

    3) Bray Wyatt (the lights out, the firefly lights....yup)

    4) Roman Reigns (forget that you hate Roman Reigns, the Shield music is really good, the entrance from the crowd is good, his wrestlemania entrance where he punched the ring and the fireworks went off....awesome)

    5) Charlotte (YEAH!!!! that's right, a Diva....her combo of techno music with Ric Flair's theme is awesome)

    6) Triple H ( the song is good, most of his entrances get theatrics because they're at Wrestlemania so it appears better)

    7) Sheamus (his new irish metal song with the little pause to yell things---awesome)

    8) John Cena (the song is catchy....)

    9) Sasha Banks (again, the song is catchy)

    10) Seth Rollins (you know, he's the champ)

I agree with the first four as long as you're saying the Undertaker as the "dead man" and not the "biker".

I'm not much of a Bray Wyatt fan, but his entrance is great and he cuts some scary promos.

Honorable mention goes to the old Goldberg entrance.

On a different note: best faction takeovers/invasions in wrestling.

    1) The Nexus--I thought it was a great storyline. And it lasted awhile.

    2) The Shield--they had lasting power as well. They used them in many ways and when they went face to face with the Wyatts with HHH in the middle the crowd started to go nuts.

    3) Aces and Eights--had potential but typical TNA screwed most of it up. It did start pretty good with guys coming from everywhere until the final 8 guys were revealed.

    4) NWO--man did that change things

These are in no particular order.

I agree with most of this...I like Sheamus' music, I would throw Ambrose in their somewhere, and Reigns music/entrance is always cool.

    Best music/entrance of the past...

    1. Goldberg- cool music, standing in the fireworks, the security escort...always thought this was the best ever

After that its a toss up for me. Loved old and NWO Hogan. The guitar riffs for NWO was cool. Real American was my childhood. I would also throw Ultimate Warrior in there with him flying to the ring and shaking the ropes. The Undertaker will always be iconic. Shawn Michaels was also great. And I really liked CM Punks when he came out to Killswitch Engage like MITB 2011.

But on HHH...do you prefer King of Kings or The Game intro? I like The Game way more!!

TIL Bray Wyatt is the son of the guy who was Irwin R Schyster

I've been going through some of the older PPVs via the Network and several of the characters that I have forgotten resulted in some Googling and Wiki searches. IRS's page mentions his son Bray (and brother who is also a WWE wrestler).

Who do you think becomes the third member of Reigns and Ambrose's team to fight the Wyatts now.

I think Erick Rowan is a possibility. He goes against Bray cause he feels betrayed by the family.

Kane--it would be a good way to bring the Big Red Monster back, but it's more likely he comes back after Seth Rollins

Samoa Joe--good way to let him show up and get right in the midst of a fight

I'm genuinely curious too, I don't know if it will be an unknown or someone from NXT who they are going to debue.

Samoa Joe would be perfect. But for some reason I don't know if that happens.

They need to bring in a genuine bad a** to team up with Reigns & Ambrose. Not necessarily their BFF, just someone who would be like hired muscle.

Too bad WWE has buried all of their 'bruisers' so often, nobody is left to make a believable challenge to Strowman. They need to keep a couple legit tough guys from being squashed for times like this.

Imagine the reaction if Paul E. brokered a deal to Reigns & Ambrose to team up with Lesnar? I'd buy that for 9.99

Here is my issue with Strowman...the way he has been booked in his first two fights is going to make it hard to continue for him. He man handled Reigns and Ambrose. He could man handle Seth Rollins and win the belt but would anyone buy into it?? What happens when this fued is over? If he goes singles he should win every match in a squash and that includes winning the belt. I dont know how much of a pop he will get 6 months down the road and that will affect what creative does with him. Will they turn him into a jobber getting beat by people like Ryback or Barrett?? Also, if they bring in a 3rd member for Reigns/Ambrose will this guy be able to do more to Strowman than they did? Wouldnt that make them look kind of weak if this new guy comes in and beats Strowman?
  • MtlJeffMtlJeff MontrealMembers Posts: 28,708 ✭✭✭✭✭✭✭
I agree it is kinda hard to push this guy like this. Very few guys in the WWE have been made to look as strong as Roman Reigns (he got a lot of offense in on lesnar at wrestlemania and basically never takes pins on TV). So eventually they are going to have to give this guy some kind of weakness where he starts losing.

They made rusev look untouchable at first, but rusev was going to get pushed. This guy isn't really a name

It was easy to book huge unstoppable forces back in the day. When feuds lasted a year or longer. Today's 12 PPV's a year make "feuds" last a month. Problem with that is the idea of a big huge unstoppable guy dies in that one month then they're left with "what now?"

It's taking guys who could draw money for a decade and using them up faster than a Kotex. (Jim Cornette line there)

The heyday of pro wrestling was when the companies ran 1-4 PPV's a year, and each one meant something. Too watered down now.

To continue my thought, it's about booking the right people against the right people, and the right time, and doing it in a believable way. They're telling a story, predetermined outcomes and pulled punches or not, to make the product *good* it has to grab a viewer with more than just high spot after high spot after high spot.

Go watch Starrcade 87 and tell me how many high spots there are? They could roll around on the mat for an hour and keep people on the edge of their seat, because they were given the TIME to make a feud work, and were amazing actors.

Look at Tonga/Haku/Meng......killed everyone, rarely lost a match, never booked much against the "world champs" and even today is still regarded as a bad a** wrestler.

Look at Umaga.....granted the world lost him too soon, but he was an unstoppable force that were actually using correctly, until the whole Lashley Trump hair angle. Lashley has a physique and nothing else, the guy is as charismatic as a wet roll of toilet paper (Cornette again) and putting him over, over a guy like Umaga may give a short term boost to one guy's T-shirt sales but harms the product over the long term.

...because none of the writers are really wrestling FANS. They're trying to make shock television. Like Thom Beers and his retarded reality TV shows.

There's a story out there that WWE accidently leaked the 3rd member of the Ambrose/Reigns team for Night of Champions, they posted a promotional picture with the 3rd guy and then quickly took it down

If true i actually really like it....

It was Baron Corbin. Now i really like this because he's been a tad awkward on the mic in NXT, but he's a huge guy with a good fighting pedigree and has the look. I wasn't sure he'd make it as a standalone heel, and they had him lose to Samoa Joe at takeover. I think he's a perfect fit for this role because he won't have to talk much, and he won't upstage Ambrose or Reigns, but still have the look and performance of a bad-a** big guy
