One more time... Shaft info on the 915D3?

Hello all-

Long time lurker (like 7-8 years), first time poster. Just wanted some feedback from people who play the 915D3's as to their shaft selection. I bought a 915D3 8.5 with the Diamana white 70x and think the stock shaft sucks (I had been in a 913D3 with the White 72x same loft and thought it was pretty good). It seems to me the new whiteboard is pretty soft, but love the look of the new 915 heads.

Just curious as to if anyone was playing the Oban White 65 or Black 65, Veylix Rome 688, or any of the Fuji stuff in a 915D3 head? Curious as to launch and spin with this head with these shafts. (Before you start, I know everyone is different)

I've hit the Oban white in an R15 head and loved it. Thought the Fuji Speeder 757 Evo was a little soft in the same R15 head. (The Taylormade rep around here is the only one with decent shafts to test). Hit the Rogue Silver 110 in a 915D3 head and wondered what all the fuss was about and was little perplexed because I have the Rogue Black 95 in the 915fd 3 wood and love it. Had a fuji tour spec 6.2 in a R11tp and hated it. Had good results with the Matrix HD6 and 6HM3 and the VTS Black 65 in the past. Have a GD DI6 in a SLDR head and hate it (hook city). 905R with the Proforce V2 is still my favorite driver of all time.

Info:

I am an 8 handicap (was a 4 before marriage and kid). Not sure of my current swing speed, but know if I play anything less than x100's in my irons the ball is gonna go everywhere/nowhere... I have an aggressive transition and really try to hit the ball. I struggle with the occasional unwanted draw to hook and am currently hitting the ball way too high (too much spin). 6'4 so I get steep. Like to play straight to fade. Work at night so get to play a lot of golf while you all are working. And of course, I am a club HO...

Also... Before anyone goes off on a "get fitted" rant let me just say that in my area (The SLC) I have yet to meet a club "fitter" who has half a clue. All local golf sales go through chains (GG/Dicks and another local chain) . I always know more about the products they are selling then they do! They always want to fit you into whatever they have on the floor (X2Hots and Jetspeeds are real popular right now). They are always a month or two behind on new releases and if you ask for an X flex they look at you like you are asking about Big Foot; they have heard of it, but have never seen it... Last week I went to GG with a Modus3 125S that I bought ONLINE from Tour Spec to test in a Srixon ZU45. I told the guy I wanted to hard step the 4 iron shaft I had purchased into the 20 degree driving iron (which of course he had never seen before) and he said : " So you want me to cut the tip off?". No exaggeration.... I politely explained "no" and when I returned to pick it up he was in the fitting area fitting a guy (yikes). The only other local, independent "fitter" that I know of has a wall of RIP Alpha's and Pro Launch Reds he's still trying to get rid of.

All of my fitting is done through trial and error (costly) and whatever is preached on the forums as the latest and greatest (mostly wrong, haha). Anytime there is a demo day I can attend, I am there hitting clubs till my hands are bleeding (my back still hurts from Saturday, but I tried everything). Just looking for a little feedback so my child will not go hungry because I had to buy a R15 with the Oban White in it...

Thanks!!!

The best results for me were 915D3 Rogue 125 70TX, and Speeder Evo Tour Spec 70X. Speeder was a little low and liked the pull side but spin numbers and ballspeed were great. Rogue was pretty much ideal for me at least. Hated the sound of the D3 in the end, but performance was great.

I went to the XStiff 70g whiteboard after playing the stiff for about a month. The stiff did seem a little week after I played a few rounds with it. The Diamana web page says the Xstiff was for anyone with 106 mph driver swing speed where most shaft companies say anything over 110mph for xstiff. My average swing speed is 106 and the torque rating is basically the same between the stiff and xstiff. You might give the xstiff a shot.

Grab a PL Red!! They're great!I have one in a 910 and it's a bomber.

In the 915D3, I've got the Rogue Silver 70X, I'm 6'5" with a hard transition and the Rogue takes whatever I can throw at it. I think the fuss is because the Rogue is so stable. Fantastic shaft IMO.

I need to find an x in the rogue. The one I tried was a stiff. I'm sure it's a different animal.
Still no one rocking the Oban white 65 in the 915D3? It was sick in the R15 for me. Might just have to grab up one of the Bay and give it a try.

For the aggressive hitter it's hard to beat a Proforce V2 76X. A great combo of stability and distance and best it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
