TaylorMade Rossa Monza Spider

The TaylorMade Golf Rossa Monza Spider Putter has more weight on the perimeter, which combined with the Spider's light and strong aluminum core boosts the M.O.I. for consistent distance on off-center hits. With two moveable weights, the user is able to change the head weight for a more customizeable feel and the AGSI + Titanium face insert promotes forwardspin for a smoother roll off the putter face, which increases directional and distance control.

  • Grip: Winn Medalist
  • Putter Type: High M.O.I., Mallet
  • Insert: Yes
  • Length: 33 inches, 34 inches, 35 inches

I was not at all impressed when I initially saw this putter on TV. I like a simpler look, however I have been using a 2 ball by Odyssey. With that being said I was at the PGA Tour Superstore in Atlanta today, and picked one out and began to putt with it. I COULD NOT BELIEVE how well the ball came off of the face.

It was so easy to keep the putter square to the line through the stroke. I pulled a couple of Pro V's out and putted with them, since that is what I used. I like the firm, but not hard feel. The putter has good feedback, but I could not get over how time after time when I rolled the ball I was getting a great roll with the label just tumbling over and over in a very tight roll.

I was sold after trying it out for almost an hour, so I bought it.

I'm not really big on the aesthetics of looking down at it, but it is very easy to align, I get a really good roll, and I like the feel.

Bottom line, I can get used to it very easily watching putts go in.

One of the ugliest putters I've ever seen. I was laughing at it at the golf store when I was about to buy a Studio Select Newport. I picked it up for laughs to roll a few putts with it......mistake. Putt after putt went in. But making the putts didn't impress me as much as the way the ball came off the face......end over end every time. Normally with mallet putters I lose the feel for distance but the titanium face with the insert was surprisingly responsive. I'm sure the honeymoon period will end, but I'm shocked at how this putter gets the ball rolling. It's also interesting that when you first start putting with the Spider it looks huge......but after a few putts it doesn't appear as big. You start to not see the black wings but just focus on the metal and white lines. Pretty neat optical trick similar to the new Nike putters.

I just wish the headcover didn't look like a small pizza. I know I'm going to get made fun of by my playing partners but I if I get their money I really don't care.

Its kind of like a so so looking girl who rocks your world in bed. I'm not quite ready for my friends to find out about us but I love this thing.

I played around with it for a while in the store. They have a huge putting area so I was able to take some 25'+ rolls...and made 3 in a row. Despite the looks, this thing has excellent feel and rolls the ball very true. Aiming is a cinch too. I'm not quite prepared to admit that my Red X may be coming out of the bag but the Spider is a contender.

Ok this forum did me in. I just took my Cameron Studio Style Newport 2 and traded it in..I got the spider! The Newport was nothing special so no big loss. I love the Spider and can't wait to put it in play.

GG gave me 125 for my SS Newport 2 so not too bad of a deal. If the Spider doesn't work out I can always to back to my Zing.

rolled some putts at dicks sporting goods today with this one, wow it took all i had not to buy it!!! ball came off pure and putter felt great weight wise. also, to me it set up perfectly square to line, no rocking.

i had to roll a few with the 2 ball like mine to remind me that i can roll the rock with it as well, but the spider is now in my mind and if i have a bad spell it could crawl its way into my bag.

by the way, it does not look crazy after you roll a few in with it. starts to look quite nice actually.

These are seriously the ugliest things I have ever seen in my entire life.

Thats all i have to say about these things. I could never stand looking down at this thing

Never say never, they put a pretty sweet roll on the ball and really easy to line up. I'd have never thought one would make it into my bag but now I'm not sure I can keep it out of my bag. So far I've only putted with it on the carpet and on the practice green and in the store, but I'm very impressed.

Got mine on Wednesday. I can't get enough of this putter. I can't wait to putt. This thing is great. I've read all the posts and it's all true. You pick it up and the look is one thing, but the feel and balance is something that you can't forget. I actually got a TM Monte Carlo about 1 month ago and that day rolled some with the Spider. Ever since I couldn't get it out of my mind so finally broke down and ordered one. I AM IN LOVE!!. Yeah, it will probably stop working at some point, but I'm enjoying the moment.

Pretty nice putter but I honestly did not feel that it rolled the ball any better than my cameron. You can still push or pull the putter with a semi poor stroke and it is a little more forgiving on miss-hits, but how hard is it to hit a putter off the sweet spot?

Nothing super special, lots of hype around it though.

I just picked one up at 33"! Can't wait to get out on the course. I was wondering if the people who went out and bought one when they first came out if the Honeymoon period is over or if they are still in the bag?

Very ugly but not any (or as?) bigger then the Craz-E Ping and other similar MOI putters.

Heavier then the 2-ball that I found too light

It's the sweetest putter I've ever used. Didn't seem that great in the store but on the greens it rolls the ball perfectly. It's in the bag and the Redwood Anser is out.

Just tried the center shafted version on the practice green at the range and have to say I wish I had got this instead of the Sabertooth which I got a few weeks a go. Doh!

i've played about 10 rounds w/ my spider (34 inches, 8g weights ISO 4g) and can now say that the honeymoon period is over. I have always been a great putter but my distance control is killing me with this putter. From 10-15 feet I love it but anything longer than that it's hard to get a feel for the distance. Also on short putts it's almost like the head is so large and busy it's hard to tell if you slightly push or pull a putt until it slides by the hole. Probably going to look at Odyssey Black series or SC Newport 2 real soon. Wondering if anyone else has noticed the same problem with the spider??

I started with a 33" center shafted putter and thought that I had finally "found it" with regards to putters. Made 8 birdies in 3 rounds and then just like that it left me. So I had my Pro look at my setup and it was aweful. One of my maion problems is setting my hands back behind the ball. Went with a 33" offset spider and fixed a few minor setup changes and BAM, back in business. I don't find it to large or hard to line up at all. I did change the weights in it make it heavier. Not the prettiest putter, but sure feels good and gets the job done.

Still lovin it!!

I have been keeping putting stats since I put the spider in the bag and haven't had over 28 putts per round yet! I just put I jumbo winn grip (red) on it yesterday and fell even more in love with the SPIDER!!

Wanted to add a review for a while but thought I would wait until I had given the putter at least a good few rounds in varying conditions.

I got rid of my Sabertooth for this putter, which was inconsistant from long range, this putter is just amazing. I got a 33" center shafted version with a mid-size iomic grip. Short putts are routine and I have never sunk so many long putts in my life, this putter puts the best roll on a ball I have ever seen and I was always a big fan of the Yes putters before. The ball keeps its line like it was on tracks.

The weight with the original weights seems perfect to me so I haven't changed them, I have tried out the forgiveness on the practice green by hitting balls off the toe and heel and they go straight with very minimal loss of distance.

I have been completley blown away by how much this putter has changed my game, this putter probably won't fit everyones eye and isn't to everones taste but to anyone in the market for a new putter then you really should give this a try.

I've been using mine for quite some time now, and am still getting great results. I think it is of the most help to folks that don't hit the center of the putter face every time - and that is me. I love the way putts roll out and have seen a marked improvement in my distance control in longer putts. My putts per round are down and my handicap has dropped. It works for me.
