3 woods: M2 tour vs G400

Kale_mKale_m Members Posts: 1,800 ✭✭
Anyone have experiance with these 2 setups?

Right now I play a M2 tour 15* with a bb7x and it is pretty decent. But after getting a G400 driver and how awesome it is the G400 in the 3 wood spot has my attention.

My current 3w is long, very piercing flight. Holding greens is an issue.

I swing the driver at 120-122mph. Don’t need to hit the 3w into many par 5’s but like to have it if needed.

My bag goes driver , 3w then udi 2 iron at 18*

Any thoughts on the G400? Just hate how it comes in such low lofts for a 3 w

I used a 2016 M2 HL since it first game out and loved it mostly as a driver replacement. I too got the G400 LST driver and loved it.

I had trouble getting the height I needed with the M2 (probably my swing more than the club), but since I got the G400 3 wood, it is so easy for me to get in the air and hold a green. It is so shallow and gives me a ton of confidence off of the deck. I am able to get it out around 250-260 off the tee and have been able to hold greens from about 230-240.

My SS is slower than yours, so you may want to look at either lowering the loft on the G400 or looking at the stretch for gapping. I have the tour shaft in it and love it. I loved my M2, but have not looked back since getting the G400.

    Thanks for the reply!

Gapping might be an issue I am not sure.

Driver carries around 300-305 here at our altitude.

    3 wood is around 280

2 iron around 260 but a flat flight with lots of roll.

So my gapping is decent. Just looking for that forgivesss like the G400 lst driver gives me. Just point and shoot automatic. So good

G400s are easy for me to hit of the deck and tee. Great choice. If you need to 'loft up', you can with these sticks. The right shaft will help too with your desired launch/spin. image/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Very hard to beat the M2 Tour. It's one of those rare 3 woods that works equally well from the tee or the turf. G400 might be a tad easier to launch from the turf, but spins more and flies a bit higher than M2 Tour in the same loft. Both are excellent, just obviously depends on which you prefer.

personally I can't see any wood being better Than my M2 Tour but mine was a Tour issue one at 14* so its perfect for me from the tee and hit it well on the odd occasion from the fairway.

I am links golf so its a must to bounce mine in.

Seems our situation is like mine I would rather keep the great tee balls than have the odd shot on a green and hold.

Hit the demo G400 14.5* at my course after my round today. Even with the stiff cb Alta shaft in it it was so good. Long, and high. Easy to hit. More forgiving then mine for sure. Did not want to go left either which I really like.

Might have to get one! Hope I can win some cash next weekend at club champs and order one

M2 was one was the longest fairway woods I've ever hit. However, it wasn't quite as forgiving as the G line. If you're looking for a tee bomber, M all day... something into greens/accuracy... Ping.

M2 Tour isn't as forgiving for me, but ridiculously long, and most importantly, equally playable from both tee and fairway lies. I find the M2 Tour to be overall much more playable than the g400, g400 was not good off the tee for me, but easy to launch from tight lies.

I haven't hit the G400 fairway, but play the G400 LST driver and its a great driver. I did play the M2 tour fairway wood and will agree with many that it is very long if you make great contact, however, it isn't very forgiving. My current 3 wood is the rogue sz 15. It launches very easy with a low launch shaft and it substantially more forgiving than the M2 tour. The rogue SZ is great off the tee and turf. The M2 tour I found great off the tee and average off the turf.

I prefer the G400. I had an M2 DF and on perfect hits, it was longer. However, mishits were much worse and therefore overall dispersion wasn’t as tight as the G400.
